We stopped at Carrickfergus for 3 nights, which was perfect.
We stopped at Carrickfergus for 3 nights, which was perfect. It is so easy to get a bus into Belfast to visit the Titanic and do an open bus tour of Belfast. We enjoyed walking along the promenade in Carrickfergus and getting an ice cream from Mauds (would highly recommend the Poo Bear)! The house we stayed in was lovely and the town itself is charming. But the people are not very friendly. We went to the local Wetherspoon for a meal and the locals were glaring at us. One man spat at my husband when he was having a smoke outside. It's too bad because the town is quiet and lovely. There is a castle by the sea and we had a nice walk. Some lovely original features such as the fireplace. Free parking was also available. Location-wise, it’s less than one minute to Carrickfergus’ premier bar and restaurant, Ownies. Fabulous breakfasts with Lilia's wonderful free range eggs from her own chickens. Lilia had helpful suggestions for places to visit and eat.
