The place was utter perfection.
The place was utter perfection. Pat and Rowena's design sensibilities throughout the Old Library were exceptional. And then to be greeted by peacocks in the morning, in this idyllic location..it was the perfect end to a three week trip. The walk into Castle Combe was delightful-I had thought the village would be the highlight, but I have to say my accommodations for the evening rivalled even the lovely town..Guest review byKingCanada - 10.0

Castle Combe is a stunning village with a lovely stream running through the centre. The ancient houses are all different and the village is set in a deep valley. Without the tourists it is perfect. Try to avoid peak times. Maybe visit in the evening or early morning. Our favourite place to stay, if we can afford it, is the Manor House Hotel. Expensive but absolutely perfect!! Castle Combe is a quaint little village but there’s only one place to buy things and it’s out of a lady’s house - she has nice things for sale. The village has two places to eat plus one lady puts out goodies for a couple of hours on an honour system type idea but other than that there’s really nothing else open. Castle Combe is beautiful and small.
Castle Combe is beautiful and small. We ended up doing a 3 mile circular walk which was great. The buildings are very pretty but it is such a small village you won't be there for long if that is all you have come to see and if the weather is bad, you will struggle to find many indoor alternatives. Having said that, the coffee at The Stables was good and the pre-ordered picnic was very tasty and as I said, the village itself is very pretty.Guest review bylucyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The hotel and the surrounding area are well worth the trip. We stayed in one of the cottages which was renovated to and excellent standard maintaining original features. The gardens are interesting.
