It's a lovely town. Plenty of open space and parks.
It's a lovely town. Plenty of open space and parks. Good walks; wide streets, lots of trees and park areas. Surrounding area is picturesque. Architecture is interesting.Wide variety of eateries. Bus tour would have been better with a commentary (like Bath, Oxford & York). Town is much larger than 20 years ago. Road closures caused by roadworks were a pain but a great place to visit with lots going on throughout the year. Uplifting and vibrant.Treat yourself. We only stayed for one night in Cheltenham at the Rising Sun Hotel. The hotel is outside of Cheltenham. However, the location of the hotel above Cheltenham was ideal for walking. Right behind the Hotel was Cleeve Common and Cleeve Hill, which had many footpaths to choose from. The views from the Common were fantastic. We had a wonderful stay at Primrose Cottage in Cheltenham. The cottage was charming, clean, and well-equipped, making it a very comfortable base for our trip. Every day, we enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding villages, each one had its own unique charm and character. The location was perfect for day trips, and we truly appreciated the peaceful countryside atmosphere. Plenty of alfresco cafes open in the summer. The High Street retains some quality shops although a few have closed down. Easy to visit surrounding villages and the M5. Went to cheltenham races and got the race bus from outside WHSmith in town centre which was good. Small compact apartment which was adequate for a 2 night stay. It was clean and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy, shower was hot and it had central heating. We were emailed detailed access instructions and the sat navigation took us straight there.
