Dirleton Castle is really beautiful, an extensive ruin, with turrets, cellars, and a prison cell to visit. It has very fine gardens laid out in the Arts and Crafts style. Oddly, it doesn't look much from the road, but it is actually a major attraction - we spent about two hours there. We also used Dirleton to travel into Edinburgh, it takes over an hour on the bus, but the bus is approximately £7.50 return and it is very regular. We ate at the Castle Inn, where we also stayed - it was great.Guest review byTowers
