Guildford is a lovely town with decent size and has everything there, but shops tend to close early. After 5pm downtown is quiet for most of the days. I enjoy staying there for 4-5 days, if longer than this it will be too boring. Not much can you do in Guildford. Quiet town - shops close at 5pm daily except maybe on Thursday for late night shopping. The Friary Shopping Mall was convenient. The bus services - bus station was also near the Friary and the buses were regular. It is well equipped and has everything that you would need to have an enjoyable stay. The apartment is clean and the beds are very comfortable. Whilst we were there the weather was very cold (-2c at night) and the central heating went off due to low system pressure. We arrived at 10:55; the pub, the hotel were all closed and there was no staff, no reply to knocking on the door, no reply to telephone.
