We went to Innerleithen for long circular riding.

We went to Innerleithen for long circular riding. There is a Red XC trail there that was perfect for us before heading off to Glentress. Innerleithen itself has some lovely cafes and a few bars. The people we met were all friendly and the Sapphire restaurant do a lovely Curry. I have never had the amount of a chicken in. Curry ever here in the midlands. The serving bowl was full whereas normally it's all sauce with half a dozen chunks of chicken. They serve alcohol too so the obligatory Cobra was a welcome addition for an evening out after a full day of riding. We were lucky as it was the music festival weekend so we there was live music at some of the pubs making the warm evening even better.

The village is small and with limited facilities (although reasonably good public transport) but it is surrounded by beautiful country, including Traquair House and the path of the Southern Upland Way so lot of walking and other country tourism options

We ate mostly at the Traquair Arms Hotel for bar food.

We ate mostly at the Traquair Arms Hotel for bar food. Range of food on offer was good with additional daily courses given on the chalk board. Loved the desserts! The coffee shop at Findra on the High Street was had a relaxed and very friendly feel, with good coffee and scones. Innerleithen is an excellent centre in the lovely Tweed valley for visiting the Borders, although having a car (or a bike!) helps.

    Recommend Caddon View Guest House.

Recommend Caddon View Guest House. Innerleithen would be a lovely holiday destination - an interesting small town with lots of shops and gift shops to explore, local country walks, cycle hire, lovely restaurant at the Traquair Arms. A highlight for me was a visit to Kailzie Gardens just a 10 minute drive. This has an amazing walled garden (17ft high walls) with herbaceous borders, glasshouses, a flower cutting garden, veggie garden and wonderful arboretum for walks and picnics. Also a courtyard garden, putting green, trout fishing and a fishing pond for children. Visit for a day or afternoon for walks and lunch. See their website for holiday accommodation (with secure bike storage for cyclists).

Good location with regular bus services.

Good location with regular bus services. Good location to travel to and from by car. Not alot of places to choose from to dine in and the one pub offering food can be abit pricey but they've a captive audience. Plenty of takeaways if that's your thing. Also a supermarket to buy daily supplies. Leave your car and use the regular bus service to other local places. Traquair House is a must place to see and they do excellent lunches. Be aware that a lot of kitchens in local towns stop food at 3pm. You will be able to get coffee and cake in some at that time

Stunning little apartment right in the heart of Innerleithen walkable to local shops and pubs. Lots of really special touches added by the owner which were really appreciated. Annette has gone above and beyond to make sure guests are well looked after and feel at home, early check in and late check out was offered complimentary by the host which was also much appreciated as we got to spend a bit more time enjoying this lovely apartment. Would not hesitate to recommend! Thanks again Annette ❤️
