Our family stayed in the beautiful house at the Anchor Hotel. We had such a warm and friendly welcome from Jae and the house was just perfect. We loved the wee village with its stunning views and great walks. Only snag was finding a meal on a Monday as lots of places closed but in the next town was a fantastic Asian takeaway which I highly recommend. The wee local store across the street also has everything you need. The house was so warm when we arrived and had everything we needed. A home away from home 💕. I definitely give this experience an A+++++++.

The Smokehouse is a literal home away from home. Warm, inviting, everything says relax. The big downy sofa is wonderful, as is the deck looking out to the ocean just metres away. The pedestal fan was most welcome.

Comfortable, warm and welcoming unit opposite the small boat harbour. On street parking right outside, and a really friendly bar a 2 minute walk away. Scampi at the local fish and chip shop is delicious, with plenty of gluten free options. Owners super responsive. Were very sad to leave.

We loved the room, the fantastic Scottish breakfast made by the host, the tour of the castle, the place were the castle is located. Everything was amazing. We hope to be back one day.

Such a cosy hotel and lovely managers. We had a drink and diner there. Really felt at home and loved the food. Breakfast was at the coffeeshop next door. Perfect stay for us !

I wasn't sure what to expect with part of the name being "rooms" and coming into reception behind the building, but it was just lovely. This is a lovely old hotel that has been fixed up very nicely. The man at the desk was so cheerful and helpful. There is a Thai restaurant in the building too that is loved by tourists and locals alike.. Our mattress was comfortable. We were 3 floors up that gave us a view of the lake there and it was nice to sit in the sunshine in the bay window

All of it It is very close to a long, beautiful beach Exceptional pricing A relaxed, friendly 5 star that exuded comfort and class Good beer, lovely food, brilliant friendly staff Guests talked amongst themselves as they were relaxed enough and not sitting alone on phones. I was surprised that breakfast was included but was glad it was as it was an excellent selection with quality food. It was a lucky work change that caused me to book. That was my good fortune for the day.

Staff very helpful and friendly. Good choice of food at breakfast. We ate our evening meal in the bar twice and the food was excellent with a great choice. Room very clean.

We stayed here for one night as a stop over on our way to...

We stayed here for one night as a stop over on our way to Lossimouth. It a lovely location with beautiful views, the best lobster 🦞 shop, I can recommend the lobster toasties. The Anchor was a tradition pub serving delicious meals, the room was spotless and very comfortable. The staff very friendly, couldn't do enough for us and our pet Roxy.

Great little village with friendly locals and local store...

Great little village with friendly locals and local store open every day until 8pm. Cafe, pub and lobster shop also great but only open for food at weekends but only a few minutes drive to other villages and towns with more facilities. Right on coastal path and loads of walks nearby.

This is a small fishing village with higgledy-piggledy...

This is a small fishing village with higgledy-piggledy traditional houses. There is a static caravan park and playing field at the north end of the shore. Small fishing boats and pleasure craft are in the harbour. Parking could be a problem at busy times, as one can only park at the harbour during daytime. The hotel serves a good range of draught beers and a small selection of wines in its cosy bar. The bar or restaurant menu should have something for everyone, including locally caught lobster. The breakfast menu was extensive. A great wee place for a night or two!

Lovely we get away lovely walks quite a few people fishing, and it was just a relaxed slow pace, could not fault the food at anchor inn johnshaven , took a run to Stonehaven it’s equally lovely large harbour children and dogs playing on the beach great fish and chips

We just stayed for the one night to break our trip up North.

We just stayed for the one night to break our trip up North. Not very much in Johnshaven that we saw, harbour & fish market, convenience store, tea room, gift shop which was shut and the hotel. Definitely recommend the hotel, great food & friendly staff.
