It was end of season and the kids are back at school so it was much quieter than in August, however you still need to reserve a table in the good pubs etc for dinner. We ate dinner in the pack horse inn, great menu choices and the food was excellent but most of the tables were reserved in the evening, we got lucky with a walk in. lovely town centre with many craft & outdoor shops, and there is also a Booths supermarket if that's your thing. Have been to Keswick many times in the past (usually staying outside of Keswick itself). This was the first trip staying in the town centre. Lovely buzzing atmosphere in the summer, lots of tourists in the main streets but where we stayed was quiet and only 15 minutes walk into the town itself. Plenty of pubs and places to eat. I actually love looking in all the shops - loads of outdoor retailers selling everything for walkers, hikers etc. Spent a fair bit of money in the shops! Well worth it. We were also lucky to visit the theatre and see a magnificent production of Pride and Prejudice. Honestly? it was the best theatre production I have ever seen - amazing! We are no longer able to do the hiking that we used to love, but Keswick is a great location to enjoy the beauty of the lakes in a gentler way. It was not advertised as being en-suite but did have its own private bathroom across the hall. Breakfast was amazing, with a range of options - Fruit salad to start followed by a full English seemed the most popular choice and the quality of both was high.
