I only wanted bed and breakfast for one night. I knew this venue could not offer breakfast when I booked, but it was priced at a rate that buying breakfast elsewhere made it a reasonable stop-over. The village is not on a main route to anywhere so is a quiet location within reach of lots of visitor locations and major business areas. Best pub to eat and relax is The Crown, opposite the Church. Their are some lovely country walks. The George and Born has a more lively feel in the evening and food is more down to earth, and accommodation is clean and sufficient, but small rooms. The only reason we were in the area was to visit our son and grandson. Notmally we would have stayed with them but they are the process of moving so it was not possible to stay with them.. We stayed at Bel and the Dragon and would happily stay again. The staff were friendly and efficient. The place was spotlessly clean and the food exceeded our expectations. The bedroom was very comfortably furnished and the bed was just right, plenty of comfortable pillows and high quality bedding. The bathroom has lovely products, I particularly liked the fact that single use products were not used, much more green to have refillable containers. A little far out for the festival at Newbury showground for us but the bus service to Newbury itself is very good.
