There were lots of walks to choose from, extending from 2 miles to 8. The local butcher, Paul Lewis, was excellent. The Swan had a great atmosphere, and the food was excellent. Lots of dog-friendly places. There were some local attractions, but we were there off-season, so they were closed. The Thai Kitchen on the High Street has to be one of the best Thai restaurants we've been to! A truly hidden gem, we kept going back. A quick walk through doesn't give a full flavour of this town, which has a lot more to offer than initially meets the eye. The Border Bean café deserves a mention, with a superb range of cakes, food, coffees and other drinks. Hergest Croft Gardens is an absolute must as we accidentally discovered (very nice tearoom there with great food). The local walks are a good starter and further out can be seen as 'exploring'! Kington is a small market town minutes from open country side ideal for walkers looking for beautiful scenery and is in close proximity to the Welsh Marches and Offa's Dyke. If using your car to explore the surrounding area bear in mind it is rural and some roads can be very narrow and a bit scary for larger vehicles. A small town on a river but with plenty of facilities: shops, cafés, food market every Friday, gallery, walks, pubs, hotels and more. Character buildings and alleyways surrounding the town.
