Excellent location. Loved the convenience of having onsite car parking that was easy to get in and out of. I’ve stayed at a few places that have tiny car parks that are impossible to use. It’s at the top of the hill, so if you just want to see the cathedral and castle it’s very easy to get to.

FAQs about hotels in Lincoln

The Glory of Medieval England

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.

Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.

This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.

Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.

Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

Lincoln is a wonderful experience for all.

Lincoln is a wonderful experience for all. History buffs can see the Magna Carta in Lincoln Castle and learn about how the city played an important role in democracy. There are many restaurants along the waterfront or in the city center to enjoy after a day at the shops. I spent a week there mid August and the weather was wonderful and the city is very walkable. It’s truly a gem for singles, friends, and families of all ages.

Lincoln is a fabulous place to stay.

Lincoln is a fabulous place to stay. We really enjoyed our trip. The cathedral is magnificent and the tours offered are excellent. We didn't have time to visit the castle but heard from other guests that that was excellent too. We loved the individual shops and quaintness of Steep Hill but if you have mobility issues you would find it very difficult to walk up it. There is plenty to see in Lincoln and a 2 night stay wasn't enough. There is an open top bus which you can get that takes you to the various sites if you are short of time . We loved the many eateries in the town and had 2 excellent restaurant meals in the evening and plenty of coffee shops to enjoy. Lincoln is an excellent choice for a short stay and the cathedral is a 'must see'. The restaurant in the cathedral is excellent too.

This is the second time I have spent a short stay in Lincoln. It has some good attractions with the cathedral offering a number of different tours. The castle is also very interesting, just watch out for the wind when you are on the wall walk, as it comes from nowhere and is very strong. There are also a couple of museums, a lovely garden and a busy highstreet with lots of independent shops and restaurants. Well worth a visit

Old part lovely interesting buildings and shops. Cathedral truly magnificent loved the stained glass windows. Lots of places to eat as well as an excellent butcher cheese shop and coffee shop. Down by the river gives a different aspect with big stores banks etc . There are delightful art galleries and lots of green spaces. The arboretum an unexpected large open space on a city, Lincoln easy to walk round albeit hilly in parts!

Loved the beautiful location of property. Near the canal and Marina with a bus service into Lincoln city centre. A perfect location to relax after the hustle and bustle of a day in the city. Food what you expect with Pub Grub no complaints at all. The staff make this hotel I forgot to ask her name but the young lady who checked us in was amazing taking the time to give us local info and making sure we were settled in. I have to add all staff were friendly and helpful and would definitely stay here again.

Not a chain hotel. Quirky with lots of character. Converted from a former hospital. Set in parkland. Excellent location in historic Uphill Lincoln. Also close to Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Adjacent to the Castle and close to restaurants and pubs. Cathedral 10 minutes walk. Twenty minutes walk via Steep Hill down to city centre. Nice continental breakfast included with good coffee/tea, cereals, juices, croissants, toast and some fruit. Staff excellent throughout.
