Being an Equity Punk member for almost 5 years, a stay at the Doghouse was definitely on my bucket list ever since I heard of its existence. So when my boyfriend and I booked tickets to a concert in Manchester a few days before my birthday, I knew exactly where I wanted to stay. Not only did the hotel and room exceeded our expectations, they also left a small gift and note for my birthday which I really appreciated. I especially loved all the small details in the room and around the hotel. Left most of them out of the pictures I added here, so you can find out yourself. But of course the shower beer and record player didn't disappoint. And the bed was one of the best beds we ever slept in! The room also has a BrewDog minibar with a great variety of beverages (both alcoholic as non-alcoholic) and also a great choice of snacks. In the room you will find a sort of pamphlet with all the drinks, snacks and BrewDog gadgets on it and how much they cost. So that you will not be faced with any surprises. Also great location! Little more than 10 minutes walk to Piccadilly Station, which will take you directly to the airport. And close to a lot of sights and activities in the city. Definitely want to stay here again! And want to try their location in Edinburgh as well!

Manchester has fallen victim to the plague of destruction...

Manchester has fallen victim to the plague of destruction that is sweeping through the UK currently under a Government that seems unwilling to stop the rot. I've been coming to the UK every year since 2003 and it's so sad to see this once beautiful and proud nation converted into Europes toilet. The only people that would disagree with that statement are the people who are destroying it. Britain and the UK , only exist as a memory on a distant page of a history book somewhere on a dusty shelf of a Library that nobody wants to know about.

Manchester is a good city due to its vibrant culture, rich history, and dynamic nightlife, combined with a more affordable cost of living compared to London. It's also a hub for sports, particularly football, and has a strong creative and media industry, along with a diverse and friendly community. Culture and entertainment Music: Manchester has a legendary and influential music scene, having launched bands like Oasis and The Smiths. There are many live music venues and a plethora of clubs. Arts: The city offers world-class museums, art galleries, and theaters, including the Manchester Art Gallery and the Royal Exchange Theatre. Nightlife: Manchester has a buzzing nightlife with options for every taste, from traditional clubs to the hipster bars and restaurants of the Northern Quarter. Festivals: The city hosts a packed calendar of events and festivals, such as the Manchester International Festival and the Manchester Christmas Markets. History and heritage Industrial past: As a key city in the Industrial Revolution, Manchester has a rich history reflected in its architecture and heritage sites like the Museum of Science and Industry. Modern reinvention: It has successfully reinvented itself from its industrial past into a modern and trendsetting city.

As someone who lived in Manchester for many years, it's a great city for music and entertainment, but the city centre is quite rough these days, especially Piccadilly Gardens and the main street next to it. Avoid those areas at all costs, particularly at night, as you will see 100% anti-social behaviour and worse.

Manchester city centre seemed clean and visitor friendly, plenty of street signs pointing to local attractions and a very good transport system. A bustling city with an amazing grouping of buildings young and old. We were visiting Bridgewater Hall (a truly fantastic concert venue) and found the Leonardo Hotel (opposite) to be an excellent choice. Plus, both were within easy walking distance from a main line railway system.

The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are...

The Science and Industry Museum and the Art Gallery are worth a visit. There are surprising pockets of history like Castlefield and Deansgate but they are hidden and need to be discovered. But overall the city is a hodge-podge of bad architecture including a lot of new tall towers placed senselessly throughout the city. The Chapel Street where the hotel is located is visually depressing - rundown buildings and dirty lanes wherever one looks. Obviously there seemed to be no city planning vision and willingness to keep the city clean. Streets are dirty, garbage all over especially in side streets and along the canals. Eating out is expensive for this type of city and 10 - 12.5% service charge is common. Trains station and airport are outdated and not up to snuff. But that is the reason for travelling to experience the unknown.

Fabulous surprise to find such a comprehensive array of things to help make a stay comfortable in the room. The design and styling were also first rate and for the first time in a UK City centre hotel managed to get a goo night's sleep with the very comfortable bed and pillows and air condition that worked quietly. Just goes to prove that a UK offer can be just as good as the best on the continent. Location of course being so central perfect. Well done, we will be back!

The hotel was in an excellent location - easy to get to most of the city centre and close to the railway station if you need it. We went for a graduation at the University of Manchester and it was within easy walking distance. The staff were excellent and very helpful, both with when I needed to extend just one room and in swapping the TV channel in the bar so we could watch the football!
