We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Gilvenbank Hotel in Glenrothes. The hotel is beautifully set in a peaceful, green environment — a perfect place to relax and unwind. The property is well-maintained, welcoming, and full of charm. Our room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. A special thank you to the entire staff, who were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. In particular, the manager was truly outstanding — such a kind, attentive, and genuine person who made us feel right at home. Everything was simply perfect, from the warm hospitality to the quality of the services. We highly recommend the Gilvenbank Hotel to anyone visiting the area, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

The staff in the Victoria Hotel from the front desk to the wait staff were unbelievably attentive and gracious. When we informed them that we had an early flight and would miss breakfast, they prepared us a box lunch. Our bed was super comfy and our room was larger than most rooms we've had in Scotland. We had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer.

We were 8 people and hiked the Fife Coastal Path. The accommodation is very central and can be reached in just a few minutes both from the path and the bus stop. It's a very quiet area, and the accommodation itself was also very peaceful. We had a whole floor to ourselves. For 4 rooms, we had 2 bathrooms. Everything was very clean, and towels and toiletries were provided. A self-check-in option was available, which made the check-in process very flexible. There was a kitchen where we could cook, as well as a large fridge and seating where we had dinner together. The host, Sarah, was super friendly and very helpful. We had forgotten something, and she immediately contacted us and made a great effort to get our things back to us. We highly recommend this accommodation and have no complaints.

This place is amazing, especially if you're an Outlander fan! We did not expect it to be in such a quite and peaceful location. The outlander room was spotlessly clean and staff were very helpful. The interiors of the room made the experience even more exciting! Breakfast was perfect and everything overall everything was great! Would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Falkland and to any Outlander fan visiting Scotland.

Markinch is a great little town.

Markinch is a great little town. The train service is good and the bus service is also handy. Both the Laurel Bank and Balbirnie Hotels offer good dining options. Jamie's Bar is a good local pub with character. There are 2 decent supermarkets as well as a 2 good Chinese takeaways and a few cafes. Nice place to stay.

Very quiet place with very few shops. Not much going on!

Very quiet place with very few shops. Not much going on! We were attending a wedding at a local hotel which was why we stayed there. Had a lovely meal at the Laurel bank hotel which was very reasonable.

I chose to stay due to having the railway station a couple...

I chose to stay due to having the railway station a couple of minutes walk away for visiting family and had a very warm welcome from Jake (bar man) who showed me where the room was. The room was well equipped with tea and coffee facilities, hair dryer and fan heater should you need it. Big wall mounted TV with Netflix/Apple TV etc. En-suite had ample towels and toiletries and again very clean. Lovely stay and I’ll definitely be returning and recommending to friends and family.

A good starting point for exploring eastern Scotland.

A good starting point for exploring eastern Scotland. The town has a train station, making it ideal for trips to Edinburgh, for example. Train connections are frequent and, all in all, more modern and reliable than Deutsche Bahn. The town offers shopping facilities (groceries are available daily, including Sundays) and restaurants.
