This was our holiday from our long term travel, a fantastic space. Great pool, cafe, and the gym was excellent I used it every day of our stay. It is located outside of Newquay but this means it is very quiet but still close enough by car. The view from our room was exceptional and walking along the cliff to the next bay was good with access to the beach.

Professional and genuinely friendly staff, great location, cosy warm room with sea view, very clean, Entertainment great. Bar area was very nice service excellent, there was entertainment and bingo in the evening. There is a pool and sauna area. We ate dinner from the limited set menu, I was quite surprised how nice the food was. Breakfast was good. The hotel seems to be popular for coach Christmas groups, all the guests were in good spirits. My room was very clean, well heated for winter, big fluffy towels, tea coffee and hot chocolate in room and a lovely Seaview.

FAQs about hotels in Newquay

Surfer Days and Steamy Nights

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.

Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.

Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.

More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.

Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

The town has lost its 'seaside' charm.

The town has lost its 'seaside' charm. The narrow streets of once picturesque houses and cottages are now jammed up with parked cars and the area beyond the town centre, once rolling countryside, has become a sprawling 'newtown' of summer accommodation.

So much to do and see.

So much to do and see. So close for drives along the scenic coastline One of our favorite meals was at Susie’s. We watched a game of Rugby at Sailors Arms, which was very festive. Walking down the village street was so fun seeing all the shops and buzz of people. We tasted our first Cornish Pasty Ladyvale Bakery. Yumm Fun road train around the area, but sadly we didn’t manage to do that. Lovely walk to Towan Headland, and back past Fistral Beach. Our meal at Rick Stein wasn’t too great, but loved our coffees and pints at Fistral Boardmasters Beach Bar - great watching the surfers .

Think Newquay itself needs some financial investment putting into it ,empty shops and seems very untidy in places. Could do with more easy eating places for families and maybe bars like mothersurf in killacourt on the crescent which was very friendly and and was made to feel very welcome. We will be back hopefully next year.

The beaches and coastal walks were stunning.

The beaches and coastal walks were stunning. The town is easily navigated on foot with some decent bars and restaurants- but has a bit of a rough edge at times / places. Wetherspoons (Towan Blistra) was great value for food / drinks. Trenance Gardens and lake (free) is a lovely amenity and well worth a visit. We opted to spend all of our 6 nights in Newquay and used a hire car to visit other places. On reflection about two nights there would have been enough and a few more nights at St Ives / Penzance / Falmouth, etc would have been better.

We visited in September and were surprised how busy the town was. Restaurants needed booking and the beach car parks were quite full. Can't imagine what it's like in the summer when kids are out of school and families holidaying. We came for the surfing and used the surf school at Fistral Beach. It was excellent and there are places for the spectators to have food/drink while waiting for the surfers or just sit and watch if you don't want to be right on the sand.

I loved having large sandy beaches close by, and there was a good vibe there, no rubbish, no loud music playing, seemed ot be just pleasant young adults and families. Shops and the zoo were easy to get to. Great place for a relaxing holiday in the sun, I'd certainly go back

We had a spacious and comfortable room overlooking the rear garden. Newquay is quite a bustling town especially over the weekend. Fortunately Porth Beach is away from the main town (on the Padstow side) but next to the beach, so the location was perfect. The breakfast is generous, and the hotel also does lunch and dinner. The decor is nice and fresh, and we had good weather. We didn't get to swim but the water looked very inviting.
