Excellent room and absolutely spotless. High quality fittings in the bathroom and comfortable bed. Lots of space for clothing. The bar sells a good selection of beers and wines and whilst having no evening restaurant there is a good selection of bar bites for the evening snack. I recommend the baked camembert with bread, olives, Parma ham and salami with rocket salad and sun dried tomatoes. Very convenient for the city centre either walking, bus or taxi. Reception very helpful, nothing too much trouble. Good breakfast with made to order quasants.

FAQs about hotels in Norwich

A Centre of Commerce Through The Ages

Once an important medieval trading centre, Norwich remains a popular shopping destination. The Chapelfield centre is the newest addition, whereas a historic shop sells the city’s most famous export: Colman’s Mustard. Castle Mall is underground, in a hill topped with a keep, part of the 12th-century castle founded by William the Conqueror.

Dating to the same era is the large cobbled square housing a 6-day market. It was said that Norwich had a church for every week, and while that is no longer true, over 30 medieval churches still exist. The cathedral was built using stone from Normandy and boasts England’s 2nd largest cloisters and 2nd tallest spire.

Colourful medieval façades line Elm Hill and the Guildhall is another fine example of the period. Half-timbered Dragon Hall was a trading hall, while St Andrew’s and Blackfriars Halls constitute England’s most intact friary. The 14th-century Cow Tower sits by the River Wensum upstream from Pulls Ferry, the train station and Norwich City FC.

Reportedly, Norwich once had a pub for every day, and today’s traditional inns and modern bars are certainly popular with the student population. Other entertainment options include the Theatre Royal and Playhouse.

Norwich accommodation on Booking.com includes historic hotels with pools, city centre guest houses and riverside apartments, all near to Norwich Airport.

The ‘fair city’ of Norwich has many attractions.

The ‘fair city’ of Norwich has many attractions. Back in the day it had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day of the year and many remain. The bus service is excellent and if you’re looking for excellent reasonably priced eating establishments I recommend the Belgian Monk (which also has excellent beer) and the Waffle House. Norwich was the second largest city of the country until industrialisation led to the growth of others. Today it’s quieter and more peaceful than its competitors. If you tire of its attractions you remain within easy striking distance of the Norfolk Broads and the lovely beaches of North Norfolk.

The architecture across the ages depicts how this city has evolved - so much to admire & photograph. A huge array of eating places and most shops still vibrant despite the financial challenges. No litter - incredible. A very vibrant place - we heard five bands in two locations in two days and affordable. Norwich we will be back.

Quaint town with so much history and charm.

Quaint town with so much history and charm. We didn't get enough time to explore all the landmarks however a visit to Norwich Cathedral was too good to skip. It exudes so much architectural and historical significance through the amazing upkeep of the facility and its relics, supported by a group of very kind volunteers. Whilst we were there, the musician practising the organ gave us the tranquil experience that only a rustic place of worship can deliver.

Visits to the Cathedral (and take the guided tour to find out more about this historic place) and the Castle are well worth doing. I used one of the Park and Ride schemes - £3 a person or £2 if you have a concessionary bus pass - which saves the angst of trying to find somewhere to park in the town. The shopping centres are good with lots of well known shops and plenty of places to eat.

Wellington Apartments are very conveniently located a short walk from the Norwich rail station, and only a short walk to the Cathedral and then on to the city centre. The studio apartment had all the essentials for a comfortable, self-catering stay - a well designed and reasonably spacious room, comfortable mattress, well-equipped kitchen, good wifi, helpful info in the room and a friendly welcome from the Reception staff. We really appreciated the flexible left luggage service as well.

Everything about this hotel was amazing! A great location to walk into the city centre, clean rooms with a very comfortable bed and cake on arrival. Staff were pleasant but professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfast had so many delicious choices especially the homemade granola. We also tried out some of their coffee and food recommendations during our stay and these places didn’t disappoint. We will definitely be returning.
