This is absolutely the best place to stay on Islay. Centrally located, super easy to get everywhere from here. The staff are without exception wonderful, friendly, charming, informative, and just great. Can’t say enough about the complimentary breakfast. It is a really good way to wake up and get ready for a day on the island.

I absolutely loved staying here, but it won’t be for everyone. This former stately home is only half renovated with large areas still to be finished. I was a bit concerned before checking in about other reviews saying it wasn’t very clean but our room was spotless with a huge roll too bath and marble floors. The beds were soooo comfy. Some other comunal areas were a little tired so perhaps they could be cleaner but they are the rooms that are awaiting renovation and it’s more wear than dirt that’s the problem. Despite some small niggles Islay House has so much history and the building itself is stunning. Perfectly situated, quiet, peaceful and great views. Ali the main ‘concierge’ (if you can call him that as it’s really more of a b&b) was affable and helpful always, even showing me the buildings plans because I was asking about the closed off areas. If I ever go back to Islay I will 100% stay there again. The breakfast absolutely slapped, by far the best we had anywhere on our trip.

Nice and easy to find, with plenty on street parking available. Very comfortable room, bed was really comfy. Bar and restaurant were also very good. Breakfast was amazing.

The staff here were amazing. We had transportation issues which the staff went out of their way to solve. So grateful. The hotel is located close to eating places and the distilleries we were on Islay to visit. It's very clean and comfortable. Breakfast set us up for the day. Lots of choices. Thank you Jack, Robbie and Cathy in particular.

Everything was wonderful. Emma and Graeme were the perfect hosts in a beautifully crafted space. The food - breakfast and dinner was superb. The bed comfortable with soft sheets.

The quaintness and authenticity of the people and surroundings. The easy connection to Jura and it’s wild vistas and coves. Meeting fellow pilgrims from around the globe and havin’ a wee dram and sing-song with the locals. Great soul-food!
