We went for a 4-day London city break and we discovered this perfect location when it comes to value for money accommodation. Everything was perfect, the staff was very nice and helpful, the room was what we needed for a family of 4 (there was a large bed and a sofa), the room and the hotel was very clean, good wifi, quite good breakfast, there is a big parking place but we didn't need it, the train is at 10 min walk (there is a 30min trip to London Bridge station), and all this for less than a third that we would have paid for any hotel we found in central London (this obviously depends on the time of year you make the reservation, we booked only 3 weeks in advance for this trip). I totally recommend it!

    I had a very disappointing experience at the Royal Hotel in...

    I had a very disappointing experience at the Royal Hotel in Purfleet. Upon arrival, the front desk staff took a photocopy of my photo ID and asked me to check in online while I was already at the property, requesting that I enter my bank details as part of the process. I found this request extremely excessive and felt very uncomfortable sharing such sensitive information, especially considering the condition of the hotel. The room I was given (Room 41, downstairs) had a strong, damp smell, and the bathroom had drainage issues; the water wouldn't go down properly. The overall cleanliness and condition of the place were unacceptable. Given the poor state of the room and the intrusive information requests, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, not even my enemies. Collecting personal and financial information this way, particularly for a place in such disrepair, is completely unreasonable.

    Likes - Room size Big bed Room location- could see the Thames from my room. Very nice. Clean room Quiet Dislikes No stepfree access - was hard pushing the pram around, I had to carry my 3month old baby up and down the stairs with the buggy as I was on the first floor. No food offered and shops not close to the hotel Old building and window fittings very old

    Purfleet on Thames is of necessity somewhat industrial - its has a fuel terminal on the River and industrial estates nearby. However, it has reinvented itself and has a a good rail connection - the Lakeside shopping Centre is nearby and their are no shortage of places to eat. So not Broadway Market but a very accessibly stop with the Dartford crossing and the M25 right there! We ate at TGI Friday and it was magic. Breakfast at the Rosina Cafe was a delight too. We dined at the Premier Inn on the first night and it was grand - everyone had great staff

    Purfleet is trying to go upmarket: but it has little or no facilities. No good pubs; no big shop or supermarket; no views, other than a quite sludgy Thames, with VERY noisy shipping in the river channel

    Great location for access to London and to Lakeside shopping...

    Great location for access to London and to Lakeside shopping centre. Lovely walks along the Thames with a great cycle path alongside the RSPB nature reserve. Small heritage museum run by volunteers. Whilst largely situated close to an industrial estate and Purfleet itself is not necessarily a place to visit for a getaway; its location is convenient for budget travellers to stay for commutes to London and the RSPB reserve is a fantastic place to support whilst there.

    Used as a convenient overnight stay as I wanted to avoid...

    Used as a convenient overnight stay as I wanted to avoid going through the Dartford Tunnel early in the day as I needed to travel on to Brentwood the next morning. Being on the Essex side of the tunnel worked perfectly allowing me to complete my journey without undue stress.

    There was parking, and I had privacy, peace, and quiet. The shower was nice and hot, and the room was clean and quite spacious. The storage heater worked a treat, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very polite. The soundproofing worked a treat. I didn't miss not having a river view because there was provision for that near reception. If I ever had to be around Purfleet, I would happily stay here again in the same room.

    Great location with easy access to the M25 and a 10 min walk to purfleet train station. The property has 2 decent sized rooms and can easily accommodate 5 adults. The kitchen was well equipped with a fridge/freezer, oven and various cooking utensils. There's plenty of space in front of the property to park. Timi was very responsive to any issues we had and resolved them immediately. Would use again.

    The room was dirty, sheets dirty, Mattress dirty. Bathroom dirty. The hotel called because I ended my stay early only stayed 3 out of 7 days. I explained the state but they didn’t get back to me to offer any compensation. They must have checked the filthy room I stayed in but decided to hope my complaint left with me.
