Must see's. Stirling Castle and the Town Jail. Perfectly situated for getting around, Wallace Monument, Falkirk Wheel, Kelpies and the Trossachs all within driving distance. Nice shopping centre in the town as well as some interesting independent shops.

The castle is a must-see and we appreciated the free guided tour where we learnt so much about the castle and Scottish history. The views are amazing. There are plaques on a lot of buildings to explain what they were back in the day. We met up with friends who live in Stirling and took us on a tour round the old town, pointing out all sorts of things. We saw some groups doing walking tours and would otherwise have booked one. We didn't get to the jail which looked good. We're saving that for our next visit.

Stirling itself has strong historical ties with Scottish history, battle of Stirling Bridge, the castle and Bannockburn, I didn't visit Bannockburn visitor centre on this trip but it is worth a visit. The Wallace Tower is near by. Stirling is also a good starting point for trips, I visited Aberdeen, Perth, Linlithgow and Crieff during my stay. the town centre itself was quiet during my stay maybe because it was November but it does mean you are not jostling with the crowds as you would in most cities.

Stirling is a great city for people interested in history and craft - the castle is unique and full of treasures, such as re-created tapestries, carving and decoration. The bus station is a short walk from the castle and shopping streets, and there are several park and rides.

The history of Stirling, it’s pivotal setting as the link between the Highlands and lowland Scotland, it’s Royal connections and it’s impressive buildings made our first visit here memorable. We will certainly come again to explore further. The castle, the Holy Rood church and the historic old river bridge and site of the battle in 1297 (?) were the highlights for us.

The fact that we stayed beside the grounds of the Battle of Bannockburn was fantastic, great history, unfortunately the visitor centre was closed during our stay. We were there for the history and were not disappointed, taking in the Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Battle of Bannockburn, The Kelpies, and the Falkirk Wheel. Having a rental vehicle with built in navigation was a bonus and made getting around so much easier than if doing so strictly by map.

Castlecroft has an excellent location with a pleasant walk into the city centre and easy access to the castle. It is close to the main routes into Stirling and easy to find. Laura is a really charming and helpful host. She serves a terrific breakfast with good choice. Her recommendations for places to eat were appreciated. We had our own small patio outside- a lovely feature Parking at the B&B is straightforward and really useful. Soundproofing between rooms was excellent- it was very quiet.

Easy location, plenty of parking. You need the car to go around Stirling though but the castle is not that far by foot. The room was of a good size and relatively decent (bed a bit too soft for our taste but we had the same issue all over during our trip). There is a gas station opposite the hotel (which happened to be fully out of order that day but in principle that would have been convenient).

We had a lovely large room and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was on the main street in Stirling and was close to the shopping centre. The castle was up a big hill which you could walk to from the hotel. The included breakfast was good too. Everything very clean. The restaurant food was nice as well and was good value for money.
