The landscape and gardens are gorgeous. The room was lovely and spacious. The breakfast and dinner was absolutely delicious. The best of all — the shower! The right amount of water pressure with the right temperature.

The Stonehouse Hotel was a sight for sore eyes, (a pleasant surprise) after walking 5 1/2 hours on the Costwold Way. We loved the hotel, the grounds and our room. We also found the staff, specifically the young man checking us in (sorry didn't catch his name), a waitress named Asuka, and the bartender Yaughtski. Hopefully we spelled that right. Lol. Yaughtski without a doubt made our stay welcoming and fun.

Kate is a fabulous host and warmly welcomed us into her her lovely, very homely home and really made our stay very pleasant indeed. The help yourself breakfast of cereals or granola and homebaked sourdough toast and fresh coffee. was delicious. A real treat to stay and we would highly recommended to nice people that want a stay in home airbnb as oppose to a formal hotel.

Stroud is a lovely town in the Cotswolds with lots of character. There is plenty of parking in various locations. Some is even free after 2pm, eg. near Waitrose. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the town and in the locality. For real ales try The Stroud Brewery. There are frequent concerts at the Subscription Rooms which are right in the centre of town with some great bands, etc.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonable

This property is fully worthy of its high rating from guests -and from us. Everything that is promised is there, and always a bit more. It is a model of how a self-catering property should be managed, particularly the friendly contact with guests before and during the stay. The location, just above a full Waitrose store open till 2100 Mo-Sa, and a quite short walk from the town centre and rail station, is ideal. Stroud, its valleys and the hills above them, are the secret Cotswolds too few people know, and are increasingly worth visiting.

From arrival and for the entirety of my stay I felt welcomed, relaxed and comfortable. The garden room although the smaller room isn’t small, it’s so quiet and peaceful but yet only 10 min walk to town. The breakfast was nourishing and homemade and I loved the option to come down to the kitchen /dining room to enjoy when it worked for me. Kate is Friendly and conversational but happy to leave you too it. She has loads of info on the area too. Will definitely stay again if coming to stroud.

Lovely historic hotel. Beautifully presented. Comfy bar area with sofas, open fire and tasty snacks. We stayed twice - once in the house and once in converted stable. Both were really keenly priced compared to the normal tariff and so were exceptional value. Very nice hotel.
