Wark is a small village, people are very friendly, it has a pub, a shop, a coffee shop and a hotel, it is quite rural with plenty of walking opportunities. Lovely hotel with an observatory!
Lovely hotel with an observatory! We ate at the hotel and the food was very good and very reasonable ( venison bourginion with mash and veg £17.90). The wine list was very good. Staff were friendly, and multi tasked well together, there was a lovely fruit plate in the room, along with biscuits, tea, coffee etc. We enjoyed a nicely presented evening meal, and a taster of chef's cauliflower soup, while we waited for our evening meal. The breakfast was multi choice, not either or but a case of just tell us what you want. So real good value for money. Great location for the National Park and Hadrians Wall and only an hour from the coast. Wark, though only small also had good facilities - general store, pubs and ev charging point which was a bonus.
