Great location for Breamish Museum and Durham. The Gallery's shopping centre just down the road. Very good bus service to these places if you do not want to take your car which we took advantage of. Staff/breakfast fantastic. Room poorly furnished,very dated & rusty/cracked bathroom fittings,no bathroom heating. Good free parking available,but only 2 disabled spaces. The disabled room (no.29)was 14 room lengths away down a corridor from the disabled parking space making carrying luggage very difficult.& return visits to car very tiring. Rooms were on the small size but adequate for a motorway lodge style hotel. The internal door between the room and the corridor are a really good addition to lower noise levels. Parking was sufficient and with good cctv coverage for security. Vending machine in lobby area is a good idea as food & beverage service is limited.
