The customer service and cleanliness was first class. We had the junior suite Crimson King which was spacious, immaculate and peaceful and well worth the money. My husband is fussy about his breakfast, but said that during all of our travels this Inn’s breakfast was superb. Thank you so much, we will return.

The family is now looking for excuses/reasons to visit this part of the country again, so that we may, once again, stay at The George. The young, engaging staff are wonderful, a credit to the establishment, food is excellent, breakfast worth every penny, overall, a charming 600 year old coaching inn that is a delight to stay at.

Winscombe is the perfect location for a holiday in the Mendips. The very friendly village has shops of every kind ...including a bakery and a butcher.... and the surrounding countryside ...including Mendip Hills in every direction... is stunning. For more local walks, the course of the old railway line, closed in the 1960s, is perfect.

This was a stop over on the way to Cornwall to see Cheddar Gorge. the food was great, rooms clean tidy and air conditioned. It is perfectly situated for visiting local sites. The vie from the hotel is amazing especially if the weather is nice and you can take advantage of eating outside.

I'm sure Winscombe is a lovely place and I only stayed one night but it's not the nicest visually, not a picture postcard town. It has lots of practical shops and lots of independents which we would have liked to visit but sadly closed whilst we were there. Winscombe is well situated for visiting so many great places around it. The Woodborough Inn is good and friendly staff. Nice walk on Strawberry Line too! Lovely café called The Pantry Café for cakes and tea! 20 minutes drive to the sea!

We were originally shooting for Bristol, but pricing made us look a little further around. Winscombe is a small village, so there's not a lot to do right there. We day-tripped to Wales, Bath for the Roman Baths, and Stonehenge. It was perfect for the kind of trip we like to do.

WINSCOMBE IS A FAIRLY SMALL VILLAGE BUT HAS SEVERAL PLACES TO EAT OR GET TAKE AWAYS. THERE'S A DECENT SIZED CO-OP TO GET SUPPLIES. WE CHOSE THE PROPERTY AS WE WERE GOING TO VISIT THATCHERS CIDER FARM 2 MILES AWAY. THATCHERS GAVE A LOVELY GUIDED TOUR, I RECOMMEND IT. LOTS TO SEE AND DO IN THE SURROUNDING AREA. WE VISITED TYNTESFIELD HOUSE A NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY NEARBY AND CANNINGTON WALLED GARDEN WHICH WAS BEAUTIFUL. LOVELY WALKS AT YOUR DOORSTEP AND PLENTY MORE THINGS TO DO. WE ATE 2 NIGHTS AT THE WOODBOROUGH INN AND ONCE AT THE WINDMILL AT THATCHERS CIDER FARM AND ENJOYED THEN ALL.

staff were exceptional throughout. from us arriving early and having our dinner booking brought forward to every member of staff we dealt with through to breakfast, which was superb. quality of the accommodation was excellent. attention to detail and comfort we were worried about being a doing friendly hotel and if that would be evident in the rooms for non dog owners (had a bad experience at another hotel were the smell of dog was very strong in the room) we did not need to worry as it there was no obvious smells or signs at all.

My flight was delayed, so I didn't get to the hotel until past the check-in time, but the lady (Who had left and was walking down the road) saw me and came back to check me in, show me to my room and see if there was anything else I needed: brilliant customer service!! The bed was extremely comfortable, the room was fresh/clean and the shower was spacious and powerful. In the morning, I had to leave before breakfast started, but they made me a bacon roll and takeaway coffee. Again, really great customer service.
