We truly experienced "Heaven in Georgia," just as they say about Ushguli. Staying at Gamarjoba Guest & Art House was unforgettable, and much of that is thanks to Mamuka, the owner. He is genuinely one of the kindest and most generous people we've ever met. From the moment we booked, Mamuka treated us like family. He went above and beyond in every way—allowing us to wash our car and even doing our laundry, all free of charge. When we offered to pay, he simply smiled and said it wasn’t necessary. We wholeheartedly recommend Gamarjoba Guest & Art House to anyone visiting this breathtaking village. It’s not just a place to stay—it's a warm and welcoming home in the heart of the Caucasus.

The location of this guesthouse is excellent to discover Ushguli. The covered terrace enables to enjoy the extremely tasty food even if it is raining. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. Communication was very smooth. The beds belong to the best we had so far. This guesthouse is absolutely recommendable also if travelling with kids.

wonderful, welcoming host, magical location, peaceful , amazing mountain views , on the outskirts of town towards the mountains and glacier, but a quick stroll or drive into town when needed, very cute and clean cottage, in a large field with a couple of horses, an outdoor fires. We also went horse riding arranged through the host- to and from our door . Highly recommend!

Ushguli is a wonderful city with its stunning nature and historical beauty, perfect for resting after long trekking and hiking adventures. Tamar Castle is a must-visit spot. Located at the upper part of the city, it’s reached via a scenic path intertwined with a dried-up riverbed. The view of the city from the castle is breathtaking. Additionally, vibrant wildflowers along the mountains add a colorful charm to the city’s atmosphere. After a 6-day hike, we arranged a taxi back to Mestia with help from the facility where we stayed. It’s also easy to find many taxi drivers in the city square.

Ushguli is uniquely beautiful. A one-of-a-kind location.

Ushguli is uniquely beautiful. A one-of-a-kind location. Quite simply a dream. It deserves time spent here. More than a day trip. You can hike. You can sit and soak up the unforgettable views. Wandering through Ushguli is like stepping back in time. We stayed for two nights and it was quite simply one of the top highlights of our travels to date. Our mistake: not staying longer.

Authentic beautiful mountain village. Definitely recommend. But it is cheaper to get there then to return from it to Mestia. You can go hiking to Shkhara glacier by foot or take a horse for half a way.

Ushguli is a village like a time gone by, a place with spectacular views, the simplicity of yesteryear, good people, there are quite a few cows in the narrow streets... doing their business in the streets. Horses gallop freely in the green hills in front of the village. The cabin suited us, we had a divine view from the room. (This is not luxurious accommodation, a cabin, a simple shower and toilet).

Ushguli is a historical architectural monument listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the highest mountain village in Europe and Georgia at 2,200 meters. We walked there while hiking in Svaneti. I wouldn't recommend a special trip there. The photos online accurately convey the full impression of the place. But if you, like me, are hiking, Ushguli is worth a visit.

It's worth seeing.

It's worth seeing. It's a charming town, though unfortunately dirty and neglected in the Georgian style. There are many stray, solitary dogs, which are in no way aggressive. Unfortunately, this reflects poorly on the Georgian state. The locals chase them away, but they crave people.
