Try Psarropoula, Kakkos and all other beaches in Ferma area. Lerapetra is not one of the main tourist destinations on Crete but well worth a visit. There are more than enough restaurants and bars along the seafront, with a nice compact centre of town. Only thing to note is that with the closure of Chrissi Island, there are effectively no tourist trips from Lerapetra. Ierapetra -as a city- is not very beatiful, although the beach/port route is quite good. However, it is the perfect place for visiting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, including "Kakkos", "Psaropoula", "Agia Fotia", "Achlia", "Psari Forada" and others - since it is located in front of the Libyan Sea. We stayed in Ierapetra for just 24 hours. We found that city was much developed, in a good meaning. Dedicated streets for pedestrians and bikes, updated sea walk area. Located just outside Ierapetra allows for a quiet stay but being quite close by car to all the services of the town. The host Emmanouella, who lives in the same building, is friendly and full of enthusiasm. She welcomed us brilliantly and she went above and beyond to help us entertain our 22 month old son.
