The house was located on a hillside with a great view towards the sea and the surrounding mountains. The village itself was very atmospheric with little houses, alleyways and locals providing a more authentic cretan feeling. It is also close to a few hiking routes, easily accessible by car. The House itself was very well equipped and renovated from top to bottom. Clean sheets, warm blankets and two air conditions made the apartment feel exceptionally cosy. There are a few hiking options with the Kroustas pine Bee forest being a conveniently close. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a soothing weekend or longer in the region of Agios Nikolaos.

This is a great hotel right on the very best spot in one of the top-3 towns in Crete. We are an American couple in our 60s traveling in Crete via rental car for a month and we booked 3 nights here and ended up staying a week. I got to know the entire staff because they were so amazing and caring - the owner, his family, manager, the wonderful breakfast chef and the amazing young lady who is a student and runs the breakfast service every morning. Anyway, they are incredibly nice and hard-working, and the hotel rooms are fantastic. This hotel is new and very nice. That makes a big difference. The views from the bar, rooftop deck and rooms facing the sea are spectacular - literally 20 feet from the water overlooking the entire harbor and views across the famous Gulf. The breakfast is amazing, and the chef turns out different vegetable dishes, pastries, omelets and salads every morning. It is rare for us to stay in the heart of old towns because we have a rental car and we usually stay at larger hotels on the edge of the old towns so we can park and drive in and out of town as a base, but here the parking is free and easy because the hotel has an agreement with the port parking lot 50 meters away. We parked there free and easy every late afternoon for a week as we returned to the hotel in our car from touring around the Lashiti mountains and the many incredible villages, mountain and coastal drives, monasteries and amazing archeological sites. It is a spectacular part of Crete and all easily accessible from this hotel as a base. In fact, the manager, who is from Agios Nikolaus and knows every inch of the Lasithi Province, gave us great touring advice on scenic drives and where to go, which is why we based there a week. To top it off, we tried 6 of the restaurants she and the owner recommended - all fantastic because Agios Nikolaus has great restaurants. The internet is very fast - about 100 Mbps and the new smart TVs have Netflix and Amazon Prime. Fantastic!

We really like the breakfast with the sea view over the heated pool. The access to the beach was easy, the service was great and staff attnentive. Morning sun was also great. The bar area next to the pool was also great. Sun beds were fantastic.

Our stay at Porto Maltese Boutique Estate was truly exceptional. The suite was beautiful, spacious, and full of character, with a magnificent view over the harbor. The location couldn't have been better — right in the heart of Agios Nikolaos, yet peaceful.
