We loved swimming/ snorkelling off the rocks to the right of Loutro (facing out to the bay) and probably spent more time in the sea than on land! It's such a lovely place, possibly a bit too busy for my liking (compared to when I was last there 30 years ago!) but I still loved it. The relaxed athomsphere and the silence in Loutro after the day tourist have gone are so great. If you go to Loutro DO NOT forget to bring snorkeling equipment, the crystal clear water and living creatures are so nice. I had a walk/hike up to the ruins of the fortress above Loutro and that was a very interesting place to visit. PS. Please do not carve your name on the walls of the ruin, sadly so many tourist lack respect for historical heritage.Guest review byIdsalNorway - 8.0

It’s a pretty and lively place, only accessible by boat. The town is a nice place to enjoy food and drink. We found Ilios to be the best restaurant and the bar on the far right (looking from the sea) to be an enjoyable place for a drink or two. The best things about the place, for us, were the immediate access to the E4 hiking route and the multiple boat trips to nearby beaches Glika Nera and Marmara. Glika Nera is fabulous if not too crowded. Try the home made Kolokithokeftedes (courgette balls) with a little Tzatziki at the taverna on the jetty. Yum!Guest review byKevinWorrallGreece

The staff were super nice, and the location close to the port was convenient. A little tip for future visitors: I found Loutro itself a bit underwhelming, but hiking there from Hora Sfakion in the late afternoon was the highlight. With a few stops, you can enjoy three beaches on the way – two of them were completely empty when we passed. Getting there and back only by boat would have felt boring in comparison. It is in Finicas about a 30 minute walk or 20 minute ferry ride a way. Finicas/Finix/Phoenix is a pretty cove in its own right, but it is not in Loutro. This hotel was built in 2025 and has lovely views. It doesn't have a restaurant, but has a kiosk. This may be because it has not finished the build yet.
