Naxos Chora is a wonderful place to visit for a short while.
Naxos Chora is a wonderful place to visit for a short while. The older/medieval part is a labirinth of alleys, well worth wandering around and discovering art galleries and shops hidden away. The front is full of taverners catering for all tastes, but it can get very busy. Alternatively you can walk away from the front to have a calmer meal in one of the excellent family taverners. St Georges beach is nearby, a nice sandy bay, with a long slope out into the sea. There is easy access to the ferry terminals, but a taxi will be required to get to and from the airport.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0
A wonderful place with so much to see.
A wonderful place with so much to see. A peaceful place full of history. Portara is beautiful both day and night, and even more so at sunset. With a few tours, you can reach Delos, a wonderful island full of history! Near the port of Naxos there are very nice restaurants and pubs for all tastes. Picturesque and huge old town.
Picturesque and huge old town. You can really get lost in its maze of alleys and just explore it. Amazingly clean. The locals are super friendly, welcoming and helpful. Lively town with loads of great shops, bars and restaurants, to suit all tastes, particularly in the port area. Travelling around is easy with a good regular bus service which takes you to all the beautiful beaches. We enjoyed visiting St. George (Agios Georgios) Beach, which has shallow waters for young children Also, the Temple of Apollo was very nearby and has some amazing views. Our favourite part was taking a walk to the Castle (Kastro) in the Old Town . It's beautiful narrow cobbled streets with quaint shops along the way lead you to the breathtaking views when you reach the top. Remember to take a moment to absorb the views from this height. We loved our four nights and five days in Naxos and could easily have stayed longer. The city is perfect blend of culture, shops, restaurants, bar and nature. My teen daughter and I felt safe and loved the hospitality by everyone. So much to do too.
