Stavraetos was definitely the best accomodation during our month-long Balkans trip. Splendid location, overlooking the plateia of a beautiful village. Getting there was half the fun - a longish drive on winding roads in one of the most spectacular areas of Europe. The village of Syrrako has preserved its authenticity and is much less touristy than the villages of the nearby more popular Zagoria area. The property is located in an atmospheric old house. Our charming room was furnished with a lot of style, yet including full modern comforts. Very friendly hosts, English spoken. As an added bonus, they also operate a restaurant serving delicious local food for very reasonable prices. Syrrako is located at an altitude of ca. 1150 meters, so nights and mornings are cool even in summer. Anyway, as we visited during a heat wave of historic proportions our room still got quite warm, so adding a small fan to the room would be a good idea for such periods which are sadly quite likely in the future. Free parking on the outskirts of the village, some 10 minutes walk from the hotel (the village itself is car-free which adds to its charm).

There is no many places like Sirako. They are authentical from the past, they are renovated but they saved their appearance. This place Gkoura hotel has very hospitable and friendly family staff. The rooms are very clean and the food was so delicious. Finally, I want to say that it is worth visiting Gkoura hotel and Sirako!

Incredibly charming place, great terrace with a mountain view, cosy old house with modern comfort and friendly & supportive house owner...what to wish more? In fact, there is even more, the house owner also has a three minutes walking distance restaurant that we visited as much as we could.

All the appartment was so confortable, with a little kitchen very useful, it was clean, the beds were confortable and the owners were so ni e with us, gave us some homemade sweets and even washed our trekking clothes. Cleopatra ( the owner) invited us to take coffee in her terrace with beautiful views. Everything excelent.

    The room was nice and comfortable (except from the bathroom which was small, but it happens often in hotels and other properties) and the view was amazing. Our host was really polite. The breakfast that the property offered was good. The room was really warm. The village is amazing, a place of unique beauty.

    A clean and well-maintained hotel in a historical and aesthetic building. Welcoming and communicative landlady. Location in a small village, a bit on the side, but with a pleasant and special atmosphere and a great scenic access road. Good breakfast. Other meals are possible in three nearby taverns.

    It is a small hotel with cozy apartments, Greek mountain style. The rooms were clean and prepared well. No kitchen facilities. The internet is not good, but the place is far from the busy civilization, and the life is slow. The hiking path to the nearest village is very nice.
