The hotel is amazing, room is spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast is also great, has everything for everyone’s taste. Garage is free of charge if there is space, but you would have a potential problem finding parking on the street. Staff is very helpful and kind and always ready to help! :)

A City of Two Halves

With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it offers the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.

Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try this than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.

To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur, while based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

    Budapest is amazing.

    Budapest is amazing. We stayed three nights and could have stayed 3 weeks. The city is very accessible with an excellent public transport system which is easy to navigate if you have a map. Even if you only cover a quarter of the sights on your list, you feel like you have seen plenty. Plus there are so many hidden gems you just happen to find. We only had good experiences with the people in Budapest, which is not always the case when you travel as a tourist. Most speak English and are indeed happy to communicate any which way. I cannot comment on the night life since we were to exhausted from our sightseeing to make it past 21:00 before we returned to our accommodation. I would return to Budapest anytime.

    September proved to be perfect. T-shirt weather! Firstly, if you’re staying in an apartment ensure you’re there well ahead of any check-in deadline. We stayed in Orange Pearl apartment right by the Liberty Bridge over the River Danube on Jane Haining Street. This area is convenient for the Metro and Tram station and Váci Street at the end of which you’ll find the City Market, an Aldi store and a string of restaurants. The attractions of note are widely spaced so take comfortable walking shoes and ensure you get to grips with the Metro, Tram and Bus routes. You can get multi-day passes which cover all three within the city limits – so if you get on a tram going in the wrong direction just hop off and go back at no cost. There wasn’t a seven day pass so, even though we were only there for seven days, we went for a 15-day pass - at very reasonable. Curiously the 15-day pass isn't listed on the website but if you purchase at a Metro station you're give the option. Download the BKK app which explains all. Note: if you’re over 65 you get free travel on public transport - but make sure you carry your passport to prove your age.

    Budapest was a total discovery for us.

    Budapest was a total discovery for us. We had local friends that showed us around. The LGBTQ+ night life it's not the best though. For a city with that intense night life it's strange to find just a couple of places for the LGBTQ+ community. But I must say that we felt really welcome. The experience of the ruined bars it's interesting. And the baths it's something you mustn't miss.

    Too much space for bikes, electric scooters and other similar crap, less space for regular walkers - very inconvenient and unsafe, especially for seniors. Prepare your Hungarian: learn how to pronounce at least and a simple vocabulary, otherwise you'll be very restricted either to your hotel services or the world-wide fast food brands and so on. Use a public transport system: it's quite fun and it'll get you anywhere you want.

The apartment owner has been nothing less than helpful and attentive to our queries. We would like to commend him for his hospitality and assistance. The apartment is very cosy and homely, and this has made our trip to Budapest very memorable.

    Location is outstanding, right in the city centre, and all of Budapest's biggest attractions can be reached on foot. Room was bright, modern and cleaned daily. Air conditioning worked perfectly well, essential as the weather was very hot. Iron and kettle were provided for me on arrival. Breakfast was nice, perfectly adequate for a three star hotel. All staff I engaged with were pleasant.

    We are a couple from Noway that stayed from thu-mon. Very nice hotel. Must be a pretty new hotell. Very good breakfast. Location is good and central close to the Opera wich is nice to use as a reference point. Metro to Széchenyi bath is close. Just use the opera station. Not far to walk down to city centre. Or use a kickbike. If we go back to Budapest we would probably use this hotel again.

    Cheap accommodation in Budapest, 10-20 minutes walk to the city centre. The hostel is at the main noisy street, but the hostel is actually in an inner courtyard, so there is no noise from the street. Staff is nice and helpful, speaks fluent English. Definitely worth the money.
