This homestay on Besir island is ideally located near several interests spots in Raja Ampat. The place is calm, only two cabins on the water, connected to a village full of charm. The utilities are on the beach, near the owner's house. It's very clean and has everything required to answer basic needs. Regarding the rooms, mosquito net on the bed, fan, electricity at night, blankets, hammock, sunbed and basic furnitures. All the meals (included in the reservation) are served to your cabin, they vary and are prepared by an great cook! So everything is tasteful and good. No connection except if you get a SIM card on arrival at Sorong's airport but deconnection is great. It's easy to communicate with the owner who speaks well English (rare in Raja Ampat) and he tries his best for you to have the best stay possible. Him and his family are super nice and welcoming while respecting your privacy. I came with a friend and we stayed 3 full days, we had an amazing time there and we can only recommend this place. All the activities we've done through them were memorable, we had a lot of fun. Have a good holiday there!

The homestay is idyllic and secluded. We were right on the water, the porch is nicely decorated, there's a table and chairs so in the evenings we could easily play cards. In the day, if we weren't diving with Corepen (they come and collect you and drop you off), we would snorkel on the coral reef in front of the homestay which is fantastic! We saw a turtle, ray, squid, clown fish, a shark etc. All three meals are included and Lina's cooking is amazing. We would eat fresh fish everyday. Portion size is very generous so you won't be going hungry. Lina and Arnes are so kind and gentle hosts we couldn't recommend this more. Their English is very limited so just make sure you download a translator app if you don't have data (there's no WiFi). The amenities are basic and you get electricity from around 6:30pm-10:30pm but for us, this only added to its charm. When we passed other homestays, we were always grateful for picking Efenli.

Everything! The place is lovely, the staff is very careful (a special thanks to Paulus) and so nice! Food is really good, different every day and perfect in quantity! You can snorkel directly from the jetty and it’s lovely, but the excursion they offer are also amazing as they perfectly know the islands, the currents and everything you should know! The Sawanggrai village is very nice to visit and people are very kind! You can see coucous and puppies directly at the home stay! Go for it !

This place is simply amazing… It is the best Homestay we’ve been to…. I will start with Aaron and his family who are the sweetest and nicer people we’ve met … it is such a special place to stay in Raja Ampat.. Mandee (the guide) is very funny and the best piano player and singer !! Papa Ella best driver who took us to see mantas in the Reef just in front of the house !!! The rooms are big and cute, very very clean and well decorated. You have a wardrobe to put your staff into. The view on the bay is stunning…. You can see fish, as well as baby sharks but also a lot of impressive birds (hornbills, cacatoes, …) The bathroom area is always clean and you have shower gel also ! The food is very tasty and fresh !! It’s always something different (we had various type of fish each day, vegetables, and much more) ! The little pancakes were our favorites for the 5pm snack ahah !! They also build up a view point to see the sunrise and a chill place for sunset on the other side of the bay >> best sunset ever in raja Ampat ! The trips we did with them were well organised and at the cheapest price in the whole area (arborek Jetty, citrus garden, bird of paradis, couscous, pyaniyamo) ! Thanks for everything guys…. We hope to see you again very soon…

Hosted by Mama Julia and Kk Mothy, we had an incredible experience at shady homestay for two days. Arrived on Tuesday afternoon, Julia and Mothy picked us up at Waisai. Storm was raging but they prepared everything so our big bags were not wet. Even though waves were very high, Timothy mastered ocean and found our way through the waves. We were then welcomed by the rest of the family with a delicious tea time and snorkeled in front of the homestay, lost in the small satellite islands around Gam island. The place is peaceful, quiet, and extremely beautiful in the middle of nowhere in the Raja Ampat : a Lunar experience. On Wednesday, Timothy and Julia organized us a fabulous daytrip around Gam Island between Sawingrai village, light water, labyrinth mangroves, magical reefs, caves, view points, snorkelings, painted hands geopark famous site, hidden bays, beach walk, coconut… everything was perfect and made very friendly and warm welcoming by Julia, and very fun with Timothy’s talents to drive the boat as a sports car driver in tight ways and hard turnovers ! We left on Thursday after another little trip with Timothy for a batcave and snorkeling morning. We saw everything with them : lots of reef fishes and bigger fishes, manta, dolphins, blacktop sharks, turtles … and even the rarest and endemic Wobbegong shark. What made the experience different and fantastic is the kindness of this whole family working together and making everything seem effortless and great even though it could be hard work for them. Shady Homestay is THE PLACE TO BE for visiting Gam island with the fun experience on board with Timothy and the warm welcome and comfort of the delicious food provided by Julia and their family. THANK YOU SO MUCH. We will definitely come back.

I love this place. They pick you up from the Waisai Port and then I spent 7 beautiful and peaceful Days and Nights at that place. They serve 3 local meals a day. And are super friendly. You have the house reef in front of your door. Literally snorkeling with black tip sharks and turtles from your balcony. I love it. The stars in the night are incredible. I mean this is the basic lifestyle I was looking for. Petrus is super friendly and comes around every day to make sure everything is fine.

Staying at Beser Bay in Raja Ampat was an exceptional experience. The location offers tranquility and seclusion, ideal for relaxation.
