Our stay at Nymphsfield House was outstanding! The rooms were spacious and spotless. Mary was a lovely host. There were five of us and she catered to our every need at breakfast and even made delicious home baked scones and Irish brown bread. We felt very welcome here and wished we could have stayed longer! There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friends

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to...

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.

Beautiful village.

Beautiful village. Probably one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. Lots to do and a good location for several excursions. The restaurants in the village were all good. The service and the food were exceptional. The boat trip on the Loch was amazing. If I were Irish, I would move to Cong. I have never felt so relaxed and at peace. If you are a Quiet Man movie fan, this is the place for you. It was an added bonus for me.

This is a very charming town.

This is a very charming town. There is a lovely little river that streams through the town and there are great little trails that are fun to walk through. There are lots of cute shops and I bought some books about Irish history while there. Of course, Cong is famous for being the film site for "The Quiet Man" which brings in lots of people . This can make parking difficult, but the town is too nice to not stop and see.

Spacious, clean, comfortable and with everything you need and many homely touches! The owner has thought of everything. Cong village is about a 35 minute walk that can take you via the beautiful Cong woods, across the river that has the monks fishing house (and abbey nearby) and with a view to Ashford castle. We found five great bars in the small and picturesque village, live music in one, so had a very enjoyable Saturday night. Blakehill house was absolutely perfect for our short break to enjoy beautiful Cong.

Our stay at Ballnamona was excellent. The entire house was spotless, the room was spacious, powerful shower, warm and cosy bed. Joan was so welcoming and made an outstanding breakfast in the morning. The BnB is only 5 mins from Cong village! Thank you Joan for your great hospitality 😊

The room was surprisingly large and spotless. Super king bed + and very comfortable. Lots of parking at the back of the hotel. Staff are friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and loved Cong Village. Highly recommend Ryan's.
