FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

First visit to Dublin, for a sporting weekend, 2 nights.

First visit to Dublin, for a sporting weekend, 2 nights. I would have liked to have stayed 1 more night to see sights but that would be sufficient as its a tourist city...unless i was planning to use it as a base to go visit the rest of Ireland. Honestly...the craic is all a bit over-hyped. If its a hen night or stag do youll probably enjoy it. But there aren't too many sights, and apart from the authentic Guinness and the occasional irish music venue, the bars & clubs are not really anything you can't get in the rest of the UK. Its ridiculously expensive and 'highly variable' accommodation, and the food/drink is also very pricey (think Switzerland!). We were an older group and had a v good expensive meal at the Trocadero restaurant (think £50+ for one main course and couple glasses wine each), and had fun at the Maison en Seine bar/club. But the friendliness only goes so far and wasn't always evident. E.g. came across a very surly unhelpful barman at Darkey Kelly's pub, and many attractions-based staff frankly gave the impression of being bored and touristed out!

    Brilliant location for a weekend.

Brilliant location for a weekend. The bars and restaurants are great. Bambino’s pizza is the best! The city centre felt safe with a really good atmosphere. Temple Bar was overcrowded and overpriced, but that came no surprise, and while in Dublin it can’t be missed.

Irish cultural impact is remarkable - recommend EPIC museum of Irish emigrantion stories as well as Trinity College visit with Book of Kelts exhibition. And Guiness brewery and Whiskey museum! We were getting around mostly on foot as lot of sightseeing was around our place of stay at O´Connelly street. It is possible to travel cheaply by bus but you need coins to pay in the bus or buy a traveller´s card. To experience nice coast line, travel by train to Howth, it is about 40min. trip with regular and cheap train connection from Dublin stations.

Having been to Dublin before I was simply there for the vibe and craic and to visit a few coastal places. My highlight of the trip was visiting a restaurant called The Happy Pear in Greystones on the coast.

The room was very much exactly what I needed, comfy bed, hair dryer, a lot of outlets to plug in, convenient light switch above bed along with reading lamps, shower with very good water pressure and a secure door, toiletries were stocked up(mostly, all but conditioner to be fair). The temp controls worked very well, making it easy to get comfortable.Amazing location ( like idk if you can ask for any better location than 2 min from city centre...price was very good considering how bad the prices of hotels are in Ireland (110/night)

My son’s wedding was in the city centre, so we decided to stay in the Clarence Hotel for two nights. It was a great decision as the location and facilities were perfect for us. We loved the luxurious rooms and the bars and public areas. I was also happily surprised by how quiet the room was, given that we were beside the nightlife area of Dublin. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay right in the heart of the city.

We loved the character of this hotel, not your boring sterile hotel that you see everywhere. Great car parking and about 20 min walk into Dublin City centre. We enjoyed the bar and had a lovely lunch there, would recommend! The staff were really nice and couldn’t have been more helpful. We will definitely be back again!
