I have stayed several times in various parts of Petakh Tikva...
I have stayed several times in various parts of Petakh Tikva and have found it to be a convenient and interesting place to stay. Parking and traffic are noticeably easier in Tel Aviv. I don't know about the bus service, since I was driving, but it's quite easy to get to either of two train stations, where there's plenty of parking and comfortable and convenient trains to Tel Aviv and other parts of the country.

I tend to be generally a bit generous in my rating (the benefit of a mistake while i resided in the hotel) but here, I wouldn't take it for free.
The staff, specially the young man assisting at the counter were all magnificient.

Petach Tikva is about 40 minutes outside of Tel Aviv, if...
Petach Tikva is about 40 minutes outside of Tel Aviv, if going by car and considering traffic. Public transportation will take you longer. Not really alot to do here, though there is an area with some lively bars and good restaurants. It's alot cheaper than staying in hotels in the major cities so it's a good alternative.
