We stayed at Marari Babu Homestay for one night, which happened to be the last night of our trip to India, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end our journey. The place was amazing—clean, simple, and incredibly comfortable. The rooms weren’t over-the-top fancy, but they had everything we needed, and everything was well-maintained. One of the best parts was how close it was to the beach—just a quick two-minute walk! This made it so easy to enjoy the beautiful Marari Beach. What really made the stay stand out, though, was the staff. They were incredibly welcoming, warm, and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. We had dinner at the homestay, and it was truly one of the highlights. They prepared so much delicious food—an absolute feast! It felt so thoughtful and generous, and we loved every bite. If you’re looking for a place to stay near Marari Beach, we highly recommend Marari Babu Homestay. It’s cozy, convenient, and full of heart.

What an amazing homestay this is. The best accommodation that we’ve stayed at during our trip to India. The room was large, clean and comfortable with air conditioning and good wifi. The terrace outside is spacious and is a great place to relax out of the sun. The best part of Neena’s homestay though is the food. Traditional Kerala breakfasts everyday, each one different, delicious and massive, followed by local fresh fruits and juice. The homestay also offers evening meals which are all homemade, tasty and amazing value for money. Our host Augustine and his family were so welcoming and friendly, they really made our stay there memorable.

Overall the relaxing oasis we were looking for. After a trip through North-India we came here to find some rest and relax. The whole property is amazingly well kept. They even have a butterfly-garden. Rooms are large with good AC. The restaurant serves both buffet and a la carte options. The in-house spa offers a wide variety of Ayurveda treatments - we enjoyed massages and think price/value here is a great deal. At last we want to thank the hotel staff, who are both friendly and very professional. Their attention to detail is just outstanding!

The beach is lovely, the sea warm, and the fishing boats a real picture. Well worth walking south where there is no development and wonderful peace.We ate every day at Ecstacy, a nearby cafe/restaurant which served ace freshly prepared juices and food with many smiles.

It's a beautiful and less crowded beach destination in India. Great people and has some wonderful accommodation from budget to luxury accommodation. Alleppey backwater and beach is just 10 km from Marari.

Very small sleepy village perfect for a remote escape. Unspoiled beach and nature with friendly inhabitants. A total escape. It is not a tourist spot but a quiet escape. The remoteness means little amenities like restaurants and shops. Come prepared with some snacks and supplies. A large resort hotel and some smaller ones, along with homestay, but little else for the independent traveller

Great area - a little away from the hustle & bustle of other areas so it is quieter. The beach is beautiful, clean & quiet. Easy to get transport to other areas for more activity - close to backwater tours etc. Only limitation is perhaps lack of eating out options within walking area, best to have hotel with restaurant otherwise will need to travel by tuk tuk or taxi.

The resort was a little too far away from the beach and the...

The resort was a little too far away from the beach and the beach had no chairs, shade or umbrellas making it very difficult to stay very long. The surrounding area was not good to stroll around. The massage treatments are a 10 minute tuk tuk ride away and are quite expensive for India £34. We have been paying £15 previously.

I was at much trouble due to the stay at Mararikulam due to booking at Spot On Sb Cruise, Aleppey (There is no such property). So I was to search for another property with the help of some Good Local peoples and by their efforts, I got a place to sleep.

Our host Pradeep was extremely kind and communicative. He really cared about us and checked we were happy with everything, also helping us to organise a taxi and a backwaters kayak tour, taking us to the bus stop himself. The highlight of the homestay was the incredible, plentiful Keralan food cooked by Pradeep’s mother-in-law, we couldn’t get enough of it. The home has a pretty garden and is also under 2 minutes walk to beautiful Marari beach. All this for extremely good value, thanks so much!

This was a great hotel. Staff very friendly, particularly the staff in the restaurant. The food was excellent we ate there a few times. It's in a good location; we cycled to Marari Beach which was easy. The kayak ride to the beach was great but the beach area there is disappointing. A lot of trash from the sea; so not very appealing - hence the cycle ride to Marari Beach which is worth doing. There was always beer and wine available. The room was very comfortable and clean.

Top class boutique hotel, exquisite attention to detail in rooms, gardens, food. Very helpful staff. Overall one of the best properties we have stayed in. Booked for one night ended up staying three. Owners also have a property in Cochin, (The Fort Bungalow) which we subsequently booked based on this experience.
