Arun was an excellent host and extremely helpful. The room was comfortable and had excellent air conditioning. The homestead is in a great location on the back waters and Arun organised a canoe to pick us up directly outside. There was a lovely veranda to sit out. We had good home cooked Keralan food.

Santa Maria Hostel is a nice place to chill in the nature and get to know local or international travellers. It is a bit isolated, but in a good way: not bothered from the outer world, but Apu, the hostelguy helped us to have any needs: he brought us foods, drinks, ordered cab or boat, and so on. And was good that he also easily hang out with us, made us feeling at home. Room was okay, lake view is amazing.

Our stay at Mundro Garden Homestay was amazing. Deepa and her family were so welcoming and kind. We were always greeted with a smile and a positive attitude. The room was very comfortable and clean and was located in a nice quiet, private corner of the garden. The table and chairs outside offered a great space to relax and eat meals. The homestay offers bicycle rental at a very reasonable 200 rupees per day. The food prepared every day was amazing! Everything we ate was delicious, and we enjoyed trying all of the local Keralan dishes that Deepa and her family made. You must also take the boat tour, it really showcases the beauty of the island. Overall, we absolutely love this homestay and will definitely return if we come back to Kerala!

5 years after my last visit, the family has grown, Akhil has now a wonderful wife and baby son, the Homestay as well with 2 additionnal rooms, and still the same kindness, still the same attention and care, the same hospitality, the same peace and quiet, and the same beautiful healthy food cooked with love by Kala. If you're looking for somewhere relaxing to enjoy the Kerala Backwaters, this is the place to stay! The family provides delicious meals and are more than happy provide extra information about what you're eating and also about the local area. It is easy to arrange activities such as canoe rides, bikes or kayaks with them, but also, if you can also laze about by the rivers edge, spotting wildlife or reading - highly recommended! They were extremely responsive via Whatsapp and were very helpful when we had some transport issues getting to and from their place. Would definitely come stay again!
