Tangahus is located on an absolutely nice spot. On a small peninsula surrounded by the Fjord. Lots of birdlife along the coast and seals were swimming in the fjord infront of the window. Kitchen was very clean and fully equiped. Coffee and Tea was available. Room size was rather large, compared to other guesthgouses in Iceland. And the host was a very nice lady. It is such a cozy little place in the middle of nowhere. If you are travelling from akureyri to Reykjavik and can’t find any campsites nearby, stay here. Hands down the best place we have stayed.

Brand new property close to the main road. We booked the hotel last minute due to the storm outside, the code has been sent to us before arrival. The room was very cosy and warm, there was a well equipped kitchenette, big shower , coffee machine. Internet worked well despite the heavy winds outside.

In Midfjordur, midway between Reykjavik and Akureyri, is Hótel Laugarbakki. Stay close to one of Iceland’s best salmon rivers and the natural hot springs, which heat up the entire community.
