Back in July 2023, I had the pleasure of staying at Drangar Guest House in Iceland, and I must say that it exceeded all my expectations. Nestled amidst the breathtaking scenery of Iceland's rugged landscapes, this hidden gem offers a truly unforgettable experience for travelers seeking tranquility, comfort, and a genuine connection with nature. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the friendly staff. Their genuine hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile made me feel instantly at home. The personal touch and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of my stay, making it a truly memorable one. The guest house itself is a marvel. The traditional Icelandic architecture blends seamlessly with modern amenities, creating a perfect balance between authenticity and comfort. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and immaculately clean, offering a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. The tractor theme and the story behind in (including the cowshed) are a highlight! The breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and nearby coastline from my room were simply awe-inspiring. The breakfast, featuring a delightful array of local and homemade delicacies, was a true feast for the taste buds. (Especially the homeade jam!) The use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients added an extra touch of authenticity to the dining experience, making it a perfect start to the day. Beyond the physical aspects of the guest house, the staff's extensive knowledge of the local area and their genuine passion for sharing Iceland's rich history and culture truly sets Drangar Guest House apart. Their recommendations for nearby attractions, hidden gems, and off-the-beaten-path experiences allowed me and my husband to explore Iceland in a truly authentic way, creating memories that will last a lifetime. We would love to back in the winter!

The place is in a great location, just up from the harbour in a lovely spot . The rooms are cosy, a little tight on room, but very comfortable and modern. The staf are great, check-in a breeze and ready to help with dinner reservations or on what to see in the area. Lovely area by reception to have a hot drink, read or spend a few minutes. Breakfast was offered and was well worth it. Would stay again

The interior decoration is just spectacular -but not only , the hotel has a very authentic northern vibe - the views , the light , the design and location by the sea made our stay a truly unique experience - Hotel Karolina was my favorite accommodation during our 10 days trip in Iceland.

The place is a part of the Helgafell, which is a mountain top with significance in the Norse mythology. The house is neat and clean with very helpful owner. The highlight is definitely Morley, the host's dog who is so friendly that he not only visited us during the night and morning but actually accompanied us,together with another black Labrador, when we hiked the Helgafell hill. All these made a very special and warm stay.

We had a wonderful time staying at Drangar.

We had a wonderful time staying at Drangar. It is rare to look forward to coming back to your room after a day of exploring while on vacation, especially Iceland - but that's exactly how we felt. It is so apparent what pride this family takes in their guesthouse, down to every last detail, to say nothing of the natural beauty and peace of the property. If you are planning to explore Snaefellsnes peninsula, staying at Drangar is an easy choice.

The listing set a high bar, but everything about my stay...

The listing set a high bar, but everything about my stay exceeded even those expectations. The buildings and location were more beautiful than I imagined, and the proprietors were extraordinarily kind and welcoming. I was sad to leave and I am eager to return. I give Drangar my highest recommendation for people who appreciate architecture and design, as well as people who are looking for friendly, personal service. It has the rare combination of style and substance.
