This was an excellent hotel, the room was spacious and the view was lovely. We ate in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed the burger and soup. The breakfast choice was varied and plenty of it. The staff were most helpful when I asked for hot water for my flask. Overall this Hotel did exceed my expectations. Highly recommended.

wow.. wow... wow! we had not expectations from the place (it was on our way back from the iceberg) and at the end it was by far the best place we stayed in Iceland. quite expensive but worth every penny. the rooms are big (can fit 4 people) with living room with everything!!! we cooked breakfast and watched the amazing view and wanted to stay there for ever...! the place is in the middle of nowhere so do not forget to stop in the nearest town (40 min away) and buy your groceries. the kitchen is well equipped and the owners are so so nice and friendly. do not miss this place!!

I absolutely loved the location! Saw the amazing northern lights the night a stayed at Maddis. It was everything I wanted, clean, comfortable, cozy and with a beautiful view! Will definitely be back if I’m in the area again.

Iceland is a very expensive place to travel and this guest...

Iceland is a very expensive place to travel and this guest house was average price for Iceland but the quality of the rooms were low average. Our room had such a bad slope on it we had to sleep at the other end of the bed with our heads above our feet. The bathroom had a toilet in the middle of the room, you had to walk around it to get to the shower and even though the room came with breakfast included it was very poor quality.

The hostel is easily located. The cleanliness is top notch. Super easy to check-in. Parking is right in front of the main door. Pantry is fully equipped. Bathroom/shower is sufficient for both floors and squeaky clean. Just that the Quad room is abit small.

High quality apartment, beds great etc. Problem was getting there was a hassel of the off road time with very difficult roads. Too expensive given that. And it was a construction site, per the picture out of our window.

There was a lot of noise.

There was a lot of noise. We weren't on the main building and when people walked in the hallway you got a lot of noises. Also the fan in the toilet turned on every time you turned on the lights and it stayed on for 15 minutes after.

We stayed in Kirkjubaerjarklaustur and made day trips to the glacier and to black beach. If you have a car, it is a great place. The scenery is beautiful and it is a good location to explore the south eastern part of the island. It is a bit of a drive for groceries and I suggest you buy them in Reykjavik or at a larger town on the way to the south.

The room was really cute and relatively spacious. We liked the grounds, with little cabins and some evergreen trees. The dinner at the restaurant and the breakfast were great. I think this was the best of all the places we stayed while in Iceland.

We stayed in the newly build building and the room was fantastic (and actually the best of our trip in Iceland) , we had the view on the mountain and has sheeps for neighbours. Really pleasant stay.
