This is an amazing hotel close to Husavik. It has all the good things going for it - stunning location, super clean rooms, great facilities, fantastic breakfast spread, etc. But, the nicest thing about it are the owners. They are some of the nicest people I've met in Iceland and very friendly and helpful. While on the way to the hotel, a few hundred meters from it, my car slipped into the side of the road and I was unable to get it out as it was stuck in an awkward position. I contacted the owner and he & his father made arrangements to bring a tractor from the next town at 9:00 PM in the night to get me my car back. It saved me a lot of time and stress. If I had to contact the road side assistance, it would've completely ruined my plans for the next day. It was a very empathetic gesture and I am always going to be very grateful to them for that. Don't think twice about booking this hotel. Go for it!

We had a wonderful time and experience spending at Svartaborg's cabin. We wish we could stay here a bit longer. It is really easy to checkin and get to the location. We booked 3 cabins. They arranged us stayed closed to each other which is really thoughtful. The cabin kitchen is with everything you need even with a oven. It makes us much easier to cook dinner and breakfast for six of us. The location is perfect. It only takes 30-40mins drive to Húsavík and Mývatn. The cozy cabin with separated bedroom and living room makes us just wanna stay home and enjoy the moments. We arrived at night time, it took us a little time to be able to see the door number but we understand this is to keep the light down to respect the environment. Definitely recommend you stay with Svartaborg :)

We had a great stay. The guesthouse is really nice, surrounded by a nice garden with a greenhouse, with a view of a waterfall and a lot of nature in general. The kitchen was just next door and well equipped, but we also had a small kitchen area in our room! And I was really happy about the hot chocolate powder with marshmallows waiting for us there :) The room was really nice and comfortable. We would definitely come back here if we return to Iceland!

We were let down by Viator who cancelled a whale watching reservation we had made without what we regarded as a satisfactory explanation. However we were able to reserve at a slightly different time by going direct to the company in Husavik. The tour, on a RIB, was expensive but superb and ultimately worth the money. If we were going again we would happily spend more time in the region because it is a good base for coastal, mountain and volcanic side trips, and it would be easy to fill four or five days instead of the two we gave ourselves.
