This little hotel provides comfort and amenities that you would expect at a much higher price. Aside from the attractive and very comfortable room, there was a welcoming lounge for relaxing, and a generous breakfast was served in another. character-filled space. The staff is extremely pleasant and goes out of their way to make guests feel comfortable.

The staff were all extremely friendly. The reception manager, Loretta, was exceptionally helpful both before, during, and after my visit. When I found the taxis very expensive and was going to struggle with 3 bags on public transport, she very kindly offered to drive me to my onward destination as it was in the next village from her home!! Such kindness.💝 The country house was close to the airport, but you didn't hear the planes, and had excellent accessible room facilities. The taps were all lever taps, the toilet was a good height. (high - maybe 50 cm tall from the ground). The toilet also had a shower hose next to it and a gap at the front of the seat, to use as a bidet. The basin was wheelchair level and the mirror above was adjustable. The shower was completely flat (for roll in) and spacious, with a wall mounted seat.There was a hairdryer in the bathroom for use. There was a fridge in the room and TV and ceiling fan. The window shutters kept the room very cool. I think there was a/c as well, which I didn't need during my stay.When I stayed, it was very peaceful. The mattress on the bed was memory foam & supremely comfortable!

Room is newly renovated, modern, high tech!! Exactly same as the photos on Booking.com. Most agritourismo villas are old and not renovated. Borgo Antichi Otto Assisi is different! Newly renovate rooms, bathroom with heater, modern high functioning 2 way shower and a bench to sit on, charming gift pouch on arrival (body oil, body balm, cookies etc) that really catch guests’ heart. - Beautiful garden to walk around. - Great location (10 minute walking distance to the town). If you want both “close enough to walk to Assisi town” and “Agritourism in the nature”, this is the perfect location to have them both! We are very selective of accommodation and we give 10/10 to this place. Definitely coming back in the future.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area of the town but on the other hand we could go out for sightseeing and having dinner in this part of the town. We chose this hotel because it had a parking area and good evaluation of customers. We also found the breakfast good. Personal very attentive and kind. The rooms were clean and cozy.

Spiritual Sanctity in the Umbrian Hills

Assisi is world famous for the 2 saints – Francis and Clare – who were born here and subsequently founded Christian poverty movements. The tomb of the former is in the Basilica of St Francis, majestically located on a hill surveying the Umbrian countryside. Its graceful lines and powerful frescoes defy its 13th-century construction.

The Basilica of St Clare is from the same period and displays remains of the saint who inspired the Poor Clares. Between the 2 basilicas is the New Church, positioned where St Francis supposedly once lived, and the Cathedral of St Rufinus, dedicated to the saint who converted Assisi to Christianity.

Considerably older are the Roman villa remains near main Piazza del Comune, whose historic buildings house shops and pavements cafes on the site of the former forum. The columns of the Church of St Mary over Minerva were the entrance to a Roman temple.

Roman castle remains sit in the hills above Assisi, as does the more intact, medieval Rocca Maggiore which offers magnificent views over the town. Even higher is the Eremo delle Carceri, a stone hermitage where St Francis apparently preached to birds.

The cobbled streets ascending Assisi’s hills contain most of Booking.com’s accommodation options, including luxury hotels, cheap apartments and B&Bs near Santa Maria degli Angeli train station.

    We only spent one night in Assisi which gave us 24 hours to visit and see the sights. My only regret is that we didn’t stay an extra night as I would have liked an extra day to shop and enjoy the town ambiance.

    Assisi is a cute city located on top of a hill in Umbria. Olive trees and beautiful views of the Umbria region surround it. The town is very hilly, so be ready to climb some hills. It was very hot when we visited in July, so be prepared for the weather. It is a very peaceful town, and it is common to see friars, priests, and nuns walking around throughout the city. My daughter calls it the "city of churches." A charming city that I would recommend to travelers who need a slower pace.

    Lovely architecture, great restaurants, but you need to be a good walker to negotiate this hilly area. Did not realize this was a religious pilgimage town so you might get swamped by flocks of nuns and fervent catholic tours.

    The town is absolutely delightful and so much to see.

    The town is absolutely delightful and so much to see. Would like to visit again but would need to be better prepared. Would have liked more informative leaflets and books to be available including well illustrated books. Online information on bus services excellent but unfortunately mid morning services generally absent. The one tourist coach/mini bus agency did not run services to other towns unless it had enough prospective passengers. We had evening meals at many of the restaurants, all very good. It was easy to get round the town.

    I fell in love with Assisi – unlike busy cities like Venice or Rome, it offers a completely different atmosphere: peaceful, quiet evenings, few crowds, a beautiful spiritual climate with charming churches, streets, shops, and restaurants – perfect for anyone seeking reflection and calm after the rush of other Italian cities.

    Domus Pacis Assisi is very well located near the train station and it is very convenient for travelling by trains. It is upgraded and very, very clean. For those who cannot eat suggary breakfast, there is a possibility with toasts and cheese which is more than expected in majority of places in Italy. Air condition is perfect, not too cold, not too warm and without a windy air. Perfect for 38 degree in the summer 2024!!! I recommend it for All.

    It was a total dream!!!!!!Location super and everything is so traditional and beautiful.I was only there 2 nights yet I felt so welcome and like family.I eas given a free ride to the train station and an early breakfast. I spent ,10 days in Italy and this was by far the best experience. Bed was super comfy and food simple and great. I will be back and totally recommend this place.
