My stay in Santo Stefano di Sessanio , in Sextantio Albergo Diffuso was truly unforgettable. The hotel was beautifully restored using traditional materials and techniques, giving the rooms an incredibly authentic and historic charm. It felt like stepping back in time, but with all the comfort and attention to detail you could ask for. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. A special thank you to Fabiana and Jessica, who went above and beyond even before my arrival — answering all my questions quickly, helping me plan my trip, and organizing two amazing experiences: a cheese-making class and a bread-making class right in the village. Both were not only fun but deeply connected me to the local culture. The village itself is small but full of character. There are several lovely restaurants and charming little shops where you can find local products and souvenirs. If you love nature, you can go hiking in the nearby Gran Sasso mountains or visit historical sites like Rocca Calascio. Overall, this was a peaceful, enriching escape — the perfect place to slow down and disconnect. I would absolutely return and recommend it to anyone looking for something truly special and authentic.

A small, quiet village with few "souls," charming and...

A small, quiet village with few "souls," charming and peaceful, but lacking in tourist attractions! Its advantage is its location (5 minutes from Santo Stefano in Sessanio, a charming historic village) and 15 minutes from Rocca Calascio! It's also very convenient for reaching the Gransasso National Park.

A truly charming little town with incredibly kind and friendly people. They welcome you like friends and make you feel at home. I recommend staying at Terrazza di Diana and eating at the "La Tricagliese" home restaurant. You'll eat delicious food and meet some super friendly and wonderful people!

Unfortunately, we were in Barisciano during the weekend of...

Unfortunately, we were in Barisciano during the weekend of the annual and renowned potato festival, which is a good opportunity to stay in town but is also very (for me, too) crowded. The next day, Barisciano seemed different, as quiet as it was. However, I recommend staying there for those who want to visit the area and go, for example, to Santo Stefano di Sessanio or Campo Imperatore.

A spacious and beautifully furnished apartment on two floors that would be suitable for a small family. Everything worked as it should, and it’s just a short walk to ample public parking and most of what Barisciano has to offer the casual visitor. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to meet our host, but he was easily available by phone or text.
