An unassuming yet strategically perfect location for quickly reaching the region's main attractions. Everything you need is available locally, including a laundromat and a large weekly market on Tuesdays. There are also good bars and very affordable gas stations.

We stayed in Bitetto for our last night; a 16-minute drive...

We stayed in Bitetto for our last night; a 16-minute drive from where we had to return the rental car and then another 10 minutes from the airport. We had a good meal at Arco Del Tempo restaurant in the town center and strolled through the beautifully lit old town.

The Beato Giacomo Monastery and church are always worth a visit. Many new pizzerias, a lovely market with good food stalls. A good location for excursions in Puglia, not far from the sea. Bari, a capital city well worth seeing!

The town is built in classic Apulian style, mostly in stone and rock. It's clean and fairly respectful of the local architecture. In my case, it was a stop before leaving after taking a ferry from Greece, but it certainly deserved more "tourist" attention to appreciate every alleyway.

A visit to its historic center, including the Cathedral of...

A visit to its historic center, including the Cathedral of San Michele, is a must. The Sanctuary of Blessed Giacomo and its museum are also essential. For a delicious giant pizza, try Pizzeria le Cinque Stagioni, accompanied by a Peroni Nastro Azzurro.
