Castro is a beautiful town, divided into 2 parts, hill top old town , 10 -15 minutes ( steep) walk to the sea. The old town is fabulous , very small and choice of good places to eat. We were happy we chose to stay in the old town as it had more atmosphere. The port is stunning, so many places to swim, no beach but lots of rocks to swim from and little stairs to get in and out of the water. You can rent umbrellas and sun beds down by the harbor, we had to as it was mid thirties temp when we were there in late July. If you have your own umbrellas it might be tricky to put them up as it is all rocks, no sand. It’s a little jewel if a town, mostly Italian locals and tourists.
