A hidden gem, smaller than more touristy towns like Varenna or Bellagio but with 2 great beaches next to each other on the lake with very safe swimming areas. Lots of opportunities to try watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing. Lots of restaurants to choose from, main waterfront square is the main hub at night with good food choices and spectacular views of lake and mountains. Colico is a lovely little town with beautiful views.

A superb holiday location with stunning views, wonderful grass beach, lots of walking, biking and jogging paths. Close to the lake an not too far from the mountains, so everyone will find his option to spend holidays. I loved Colico. Quiet. Lovely waterfront walking path. We caught the train from Malpensa, then Milan Central to Colico. Worked perfectly. The ferry stops only a few times a day so best to be organised and book your tickets online. I did see people buying at the ticket office but arrive early. You can use the train also to get to other towns and sights. We don’t like rushing around so Colico suited us. A quit place with few restaurants and cafes (and some of them are exceptional, eg. a cafe Ferris serves great cornetti, a local gelateria Riva Reno by the street going to the main square - offered very good ice cream, Made Colico restaurant prepares one of the best pizza but it is worth to try menu degustazione as well. Apart from food there are some places to visit like Forte Montecchio Nord which can visited only with a guide (totally worth it) or a longer trip to Fort Fuentes. Piona Abbey is worth visiting (a bit difficult to get to without a car). And of course Varenna (with it villa Monastero, but the town itself is also worth seeing).Guest review byMagdalenaPoland

Uncomplicated check-in with key box possible, easy communication via whats-app (fast and friendly). Pizzeria and train station stop nearby, and the lake is not far also on foot. The location is great right in the centre of colico. The apartment was really spacious and it was great value for money. We had a dog and they gave us a blanket and dog bowl too.
