We love Lucca.
We love Lucca. But travelling with a dog and the difficulty of overnight parking in a city this is a wonderful alternative. Massaciuccoli is a huge lake surrounded by vineyards and tiny villages and our wonderful hotel Le Rotunde. It's only 15 minutes to both Lucca and Viareggio so the best of all worlds. There are lots of restaurants and services in the area and to spend the day touristing and then return to the peace and quiet of the lake area is a joy. The food at Le Rotunde is amazing and we found it hard not to return to the hotel and dine in the quiet countryside then go for a walk around the lake with the dog.Guest review byM.T.Italy - 10.0

This is a beautiful area, charming village and access to the lake was super easy...2 min. walk. The lake has an amazing boardwalk out onto the lake and you can see fish and birds surrounded by tall reeds. Fascinating!Guest review byM.T.Italy
