Sulmona is a great place to visit. The town is lovely with great views and very popular with all ages. It has a good selection of restaurants and bars, along with takeaway options. Sulmona is a great town for those seeking an authentic Italian experience away from the normal tourist locations. It has everything you would want or need. It has got a train station , 2km away from the centre, and various bus routes to outlying villages and towns. The public transport timings are designed around the needs of the local people so , if you’re using trains or busses be aware that a lot of things close at 12 and don’t open up again until 5pm. You can eat between 12 and 3pm. For ease ,and to ensure you get to see as much of Abruzzo, I would recommend hiring a car to ensure you have flexibility. The tourist information office , near the museum, was a brilliant resource and the staff were always helpful. You can buy bus tickets for the tourist information and Trainline app was great for train timings and tickets.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom

It's not in the central area of Sulmona so could be a problem without a car, and you won't exactly get a room with a view, but otherwise, absolutely great. Two lovely swimming pools, nice air-conditioned rooms, and very helpful staff.
