Great views. Great trip. Only disappointment is the blue "lake" in Nakadake Crater. All the pictures show the "lake" while to my understanding it was destroyed during the 2016 earthquake. It was what drawn my attention to this location to begin with, so it was disappointing not seeing it. The room felt new and very well maintained. Clean and comfortable beds with well thought out amenities in the room. It is also just next to the Aso train station. My room view was a mountain view which was breathtaking. The room was also amazingly spacious. When you check in, you can choose 1 full hour during which you can access the onsen; the onsen is then only booked for you. The staff was really welcoming.
