I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen.

I travelled from Tokyo to Shin-Fuji via Kodama Shinkansen. The fare is ¥5900 one way and travel time is nearly an hour. I stayed at Toyoko Inn which is 150 meters from the Shin Fuji station. There are lots of car rentals in the area but I was not able to get one as they only accept advance booking from their website. It took me 2 hours getting to and from the foot of Mt. Fuji, by bus and a 15 minute walk in the village to reach my destinations. Roads are quite narrow but they are common in Japan. Like most countryside places in Japan, Fuji is relatively clean, rich in nature, and lots of places to explore. My advice if you want to visit Fuji: 1. Travel by Shinkansen going to and from Fuji. 2. Rent a car so you can visit most of the attractions in and around Mt. Fuji. 3. Spend at leat 3-4 days in the area. 4. Bring cash with you always as most establishments are cash based. 5. Download Papago app on your phone so you can translate Japanese images, signs, etc if you're having difficulty understanding the language. That's it and enjoy your trip to Mt. Fuji.

It's improved a bit since my first stay.

It's improved a bit since my first stay. But the rooms still aren't that clean. There was paper thrown on top of the air conditioner and a bit of dust in the closet next to the bed. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Fuji is a rather industrial place with no tourist facilities. You can see Mount Fuji on a clear day, but the north side is recommended for tourists. We ate at a BBQ place which was very good, but unfortunately, nothing was available in English, so we had to rely on pictures.

As its name suggests, Fuji City is a city that spreads out on the Pacific coast at the foot of Mount Fuji, and Mount Fuji can be seen clearly from the city. However, with many paper mills and other facilities that drove Japan's industrialization, the city is more of an industrial city than a tourist destination. It is home to Shin-Fuji Station on the Shinkansen line, and is an ideal base for sightseeing by rental car to visit Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine, Yamamiya Sengen Shrine, Murayama Sengen Shrine, Suyama Sengen Shrine, Hitoana Fujiko Site, Shiraito Falls, and other sites that make up the World Heritage Site "Mount Fuji - Sacred Site and Source of Artistic Inspiration" on the Shizuoka side of the country, including Susono City and Fujinomiya City.

The buffet breakfast which consisted of both Japanese and western cuisines were delicious. The location was perfect being next to the Shin-Fuji Station which brings you to Tokyo via the Shinkansen in an hour. The hotel also provides a van shuttle to Fuji Station which is about 10 minutes away (Do check the schedules which is listed on a board in front of the hotel). From Fuji Station, one can take the local train to Fujinomiya Station which is 20 minutes away. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the location, comfort and convenience!

Such a unique, stylish and beautiful hotel. The staff were so lovely and helpful. We were offered a tasty welcome drink. The nigh time bar was ace too. We stopped here on our way to Izu and it was a nice little surprise - perfect views of Mount Fuji and lots of yummy food located around. Highly recommended!

Great hotel, wonderful and kind staff. They were accommodating to unusual requests. Bus stop right in front of the hotel. And an absolutely amazing view of Fuji-San. It was very nice to find out that we have rooms with an amazing view. I definitely recommend it.

Amazing hotel, close to train station, very good breakfast and a room with a wonderful view of Mt Fuji. Great value for money, very friendly staff. Ask for a room with mountain view, you won't regret.
