Perfect location! You can see the majestic Mount Fuji from the window. The mountain view in the morning mist is breathtaking. The room is clean and cozy, fully equipped. We ate big lunch at kura Sushi Fujinomiya, was good fun and orders delivered by conveyor although a struggle because of language even with our Tranlator app and some help from the ladies who speak no english. It was a nice quiet town with the most amazing UNESCO...
It was a nice quiet town with the most amazing UNESCO Heritage Centre, well worth a visit. Because we were there in off season June, the weather was overcast and cloudy and we were unable to see Mt Fuji, but we did get a glimpse of it for about half an hour or so! We didn't realize this is usually the case during these months and the chances of seeing Mt Fuji are quite rare. Had some of the best noodles in Japan there. We went for a walk in the evening through the town and there was no one about, it was bliss... A lot of the bars and restaurants close on a Monday. Private bus tours only run at weekends from 11am to 2pm not during the week, which we didn't know till we got there, but we used public transport and that was fine. The homeowner, Mr. Itaru, greeted us warmly and with great hospitality. He provided excellent service throughout our stay. Mr. Itaru went above and beyond in hosting his guests. He picked us up from the station, cooked us incredibly delicious meals, and even offered a bicycle rental service. During our short visit, there were mainly local tourists, not crowded at all. We drove to the nearby lake observatory, we almost had the whole lake and Mt Fuji to ourselves, we even encountered wild deer and raccoons on the way back to hotel! The buffet is superb!
