Llama is a typical Japanese town. Great for a walk, but one day is plenty! Madarao ski resort scenery, location is wonderful. Madarao is a small village about 25 minutes away by bus from Iiyama. It is very accessible from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Dinner has to be booked in advance since there are not too many choices. Awesome view of the snow, very well sized cabin for 5 people. Very warm and cosy after a day of attempting to ski. The staff were exceptional, even going so far as to pick us up from the Madarao Kogan Hotel with our bags and elderly companion. 20 minutes walk to Madarao Kogen and the onsen there. We also had dinner at the main building which was delicious and the staff helped us with picking what trains to catch to get to Kyoto. Cannot recommend highly enough.Guest review byMelissaAustralia

Led by Lisa, the team was always friendly, accommodating and helpful…eg. suggesting good outside dinner venues and booking them for us (shabu shabu 1km away was amazing), plus helping us with transport whenever we needed etc. The Deluxe room was good value for money and we slept really well as the bed mattress was like a five star hotel, and the temperature control was consistent.
